There will be a day when Pep Guardiola does call time on his Manchester City career. It will be a devastating day for Manchester City fans given the era of dominance Guardiola has guided the club through. But as it stands, it is a thought that isn’t worth worrying about just yet. Pep Guardiola has a year left on his current contract, and there are more pressing issues to worry about for Manchester City fans.

Speaking during an exclusive Q & A session for subscribers to the Athletic David Ornstein was asked about Pep Guardiola’s future at Manchester City. Ornstein answered: “I don’t think a decision has been made. As you know from last time, (Pep) Guardiola tends to leave it quite late before committing (to a new contract at Manchester City). There is a feeling around the industry that he will leave in the summer of 2025. However, I currently have no evidence to back this up.”

David Ornstein may or may not be proven correct that Pep Guardiola does depart Manchester City at the end of next season. Only time will tell if that will be the case. There will no doubt be constant speculation until a decision is made on his future one way or another from Guardiola. But as it stands right now, there are bigger issues to worry about.

Pep Guardiola is currently preparing his team for their must win Premier League clash with West Ham on Sunday. There is a chance for Manchester City to create history this weekend and claim a fourth consecutive Premier League title. That is a more pressing issue than Pep Guardiola’s future.

The time for worrying about Pep Guardiola’s time at Manchester City coming to an end will come. But right now Sunday’s match against West Ham is the focus of attention. Guardiola’s future at Manchester City will be resolved in time. Worrying about the issue this week won’t give any clarification on the matter.
