Boston Fans are the Best

With all of things being said about Boston fans lately, I had to make a comment on the situation myself. First off, I'm sure by now Mike Bibby has learned his lesson. I don't really have anything against the guy, but come on. You don't say things like that. It shows true ignorance. Boston fans are never, "fair weather fans." We truly care about our teams and players no matter what. Sure, it is nice to win, but the Garden will always be packed, and the people at Fenway will always be singing "Sweet Caroline."

It is extremely insulting for anyone to even suggest that the only reason Boston has so many fans is because they are winning. I for one feel personally insulted. Last year, and every year of my life for the most part, I had watched almost every single Celtics game. I cheered and yelled and stood by those players even when they lost 18 straight games, and I know thousands of people did that with me. And, think about the Red Sox. Boston waited 86 years to win a championship and the fans were faithful the whole time.

All in all, people will say what they want about the Boston fans, but the only reason they make fun of us is simple- they're jealous. They know we have a true passion for sports whether it be football, baseball, basketball, or even hockey (yes, there are many Bruins fans). The past few years have been amazing. The Patriots have won, the Red Sox have won, and now that the Celtics have made the greatest turn-around in NBA history, people don't like it. Well, you know what, it's time for the Celtics, and if people don't like it too bad. It's our turn this year, and we would love nothing more than to celebrate a 17th championship.

dear, you must be young.

[[Sure, it is nice to win, but the Garden will always be packed, and the people at Fenway will always be singing "Sweet Caroline." ]]

fenway wasn't always packed. it's become easier to get a ticket than 10 years ago, but that's because we're good, and the fenway group marketed red sox games as a family outing and updated the facilities. people were there, but not nearly as many as there are now. if the sox majorly screw up and the marketing as a family outing falls through - guess what - people won't pay a premium to see a poor sports team.

as for the garden, if you'd gone to a game last year you would've seen a similar atmosphere to many of the non playoff teams home arenas - with the lower level seats very easy to jump into from the cheap ones. it wasn't nearly as packed, it wasn't nearly as loud, and it was downright discouraging to see the games. people weren't spending money to see the celtics until the KG and ray allen deals were announced. if we blunder a few years from now, people won't justify that much cash to see a losing team. there is a premium you pay to be a sports fan, but you only expect to pay that premium for a winning team. know what i mean?

as much as i appreciate the sentiment and feeling behind your post as a boston fan, i can't say that it's entirely accurate. boston is fickle. not nearly as fickle as places like atlanta or miami, but there are loads of fair weather fans. there are in every city, and in every sport. except for philly - those are just tortured fans. but as i said about bibby, you don't come out and say it to them. that's just rude and not entirely the smart thing to do. the celtics are great, i love this roster, and i'd love to see banner 17, but i feel like unless we get the same caliber people like ray allen, kg, pierce after the big three move on to different pursuits, that the attendance will drop off again, and the fairweathers will leave. it happens everywhere. boston fans are the best, sure, but only the true ones will sit through watching their teams lose.

jesus eefing crap why did that post 3 times?!

boston are not the best their fairweather like Sacramento fans, last the celtic fans chanted MVP for Kobe Bryant when their team was in the cellar
