NFL Draft Makes for Strange Bedfellows

Chiefs and Raiders? Jets and Patriots? Cats and dogs, living together, MASS HYSTERIA!!! We're not talking about great divisional matchups (obviously, since I mentioned the Jets). These teams could actually trade with one another in the draft this weekend.

why not? the eagles and cowboys did it last year

The Ravens and Browns did it too, I think in 2006. That's the point of my post (I wrote it). When draft time comes around, improving the team as a whole comes before worrying about how much you hate your division mates. Draft trades don't follow a zero-sum pattern. It's definitely possible for both teams to benefit because the salary cap is an additional variable.

Yep, Baltimore traded up to get Haloti Ngata, and I believe the Browns selected Kamerion Wimbley. Picks #12 and 13. I forget what the Ravens gave up to swap picks... maybe a fourth-rounder?

It was a 6th. Another example of Cleveland and Phil Savage using his knowledge of the Ravens' front office against them. Add it to Derek Anderson, Gary Baxter, and Chester Taylor.

Word on that. He's played us a bit. Although Jamal Lewis has got to be a fluke. I still don't believe what he did last year.

I could see Carolina moving up to the Patriots 7 pick to snag Matt Ryan away from Baltimore (Delhomme is getting old). They aren't rivals, but they did meet in the SB. I could see the Bears move up as well. I wonder if Minnesota can't come to terms with Jared Allen and work out a trade with the Chiefs if they would want to jump up and grab a DE? My guess is not, but you never know.
