No Rams Walkthrough Tape

Boston Sports Media Watch reports the following:

"So after months and months of speculation that ex-Patriots employee Matt Walsh possessed damning evidence against the team above and beyond what they had already been punished for, Walsh revealed the goods yesterday, and surprise, surprise, there was no tape of the Rams walkthrough prior to Super Bowl XXXVI in his collection. What he did have was what we already knew - and what the Patriots had already admitted - tapes that showed they had been taping opposing signals since the start of the Belichick era.

As part of the release yesterday, Walsh's attorneys also stated that he was not the source of John Tomase's infamous story the day before this year's Super Bowl that claimed that a tape of the Rams walkthrough exists.

It would seem that Walsh was simply out for his 15 minutes of fame, and he certainly got it, thanks to an overzealous media eager for anything new to pin on the Patriots."

Haha big surprise.

So Walsh proves what we already knew. B. admitted to this and said he had done it since he started with the Pats. Both coaching and team were punnished for this already and I don't see how the NFL can punnish them again for what they already knew before when sanctions were dealt out. Its been a witch hunt and nothing more.

The tapes sent to the NFL show the Patriots recorded signals in regular-season games against Miami, Buffalo, Cleveland and San Diego, and against Pittsburgh in the 2002 AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. Who's to say he didn't film any of the Superbowl walthroughs? Just because he didn't have those tapes in his collection, doesn't mean it didn't happen....

Well then why was he saying he had a tape? Because he wanted attention, and maybe other alterior motives that we don't know about? If it truly existed it would be out already

I love how this story is not as hyped as the fact that their was some "tape" somewhere proving the patriots were cheaters. No one likes NE. Weird, considering no one in NE cares.

The Patriots ARE cheaters. There really isn't any other way around it (taping a Superbowl walkthrough or not). If they weren't cheaters they wouldn't have been punished.

I wont debate you on it. It is over with, I mean we all saw the SouthPark episode. But just think about this, if the patriots were the only ones that were doing it all these years, then WHY would coaches cover their mouths? WHY would the NFL instill it as a newly enforced rule? Just because of NE?

Plus, why in football is it illegal to steal signs, but in baseball it isn't? What are the differences? I am just asking. I know when I played softball there would be a huge advantage to know what type of pitch was going to be thrown, if its supposed to go outside you don't swing. Having that knowlege in baseball can be more helpful then with football. I mean, if the other team lets say Mark Bulger is supposed to throw a slot so the Pats throw out the cover 2 type defense to block it, well Mark has other options so he will go to his next option. They don't know what all their options are so how is this an exact type of cheating, where as it serves a complete one sided outcome? It doesn't.

I meant post. not slot! ha.

O.k. basically the same analogy you used for softball would be correct. Except...the Pats new the defensive signals (brady would know the other teams defense). So lets say I know you are going to blitz me from the LEFT. I could make an immediate audible to go AWAY from the blitz (change the pass to a running play to the RIGHT) or "hot route" my receiver so I could make an easy completion in that vacant spot. THAT is the huge advantage. If I know your linebackers are playing an "deep zone" I would either run a draw play up the gut. There are MILLION different scenarios that you could use to your advantage when you know another teams defensive play. I can guarantee you that if I had privy knowledge of someone else's defense prior to running my offense, I would win 80% of my games. Easily.

Why the neg point above? Oh yeah I forgot. The truth hurts. :) haha

not really. You are not speaking in 'truths' merely an opinion. I feel no pain from your words.

They wouldn't know the teams defense, because all teams have different plays. The only way they would know there whole defense is if they had their play book.

Well if you took time to read my post:
http://yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/Walsh_sends_Patriots_Spygate_tapes_to_NFL_Super_Bowl_walkthrough_not_among_them/264696

You would have read this: At that time, the Boston Herald also reported an unnamed Patriots employee illegally taped the Rams' final walkthrough before the 2002 title game, when New England, a two-touchdown underdog, upset St. Louis 20-17. "Mr. Walsh has never claimed to have a tape of the walkthrough," Levy told The New York Times. "Mr. Walsh has never been the source of any of the media speculation about such a tape. Mr. Walsh was not the source for the Feb. 2 Boston Herald article."

If he was really trying to get attention by claiming he had filmed the Rams walthrough, he would have said it flat out. Notice how it said " At that time, the Boston Herald also reported an unnamed Patriots employee illegally taped the Rams' final walkthrough...." Who's to say that person STILL doesn't work with the Patriots? They didn't say "who" or if they were still with the team (hence being "unnamed").

You are right the patriots are cheaters. Whats for dinner? Anyways. Do you think they showed the players the tapes?

BEEF! That's what's for dinner! ;) haha.

And of course they showed their players the tapes. Obviously not DURING the game, but I'm sure they knew what to look for the next time they played them. Or even the second half of a football game to take advantage.

no what is going to be really funny? When other teams start getting busted for this..Perhaps even your team. So laugh it up now fire boy.

ESPN's Mortensen hammers the Herald for running the story:

http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/05/08/chris-mortensen-espn-had-rams-walk-through-story-it-didnt-me/

"Other media outlets including ESPN, had this allegation and pursued this allegation for months, and it just didn't meet the standard in terms of what you needed to report it, and the Boston Herald evidently felt they had met the standard to report it," Mortensen said. "They need to come out and say, 'We stand by our story' or they need to have a retraction and apology and deal with the consequences of it, but certainly it's damaging to the Boston Herald at this point, especially if they stay silent on the subject."

You're 100% right. I also think the Herald should fire Tomase and whoever let the idiot publish that article .

This is Great news for Patriots fans. Our Super Bowl victories are preserved. We should counter-sue the Rams now for false allegations. The Rams and Panthers victories are two of the best Super Bowls ever with victories in the final seconds, not minutes. They didn't win a Super Bowl this year but seventeen in a row without a loss after the Jets game is amazing. I'm still thankful for three Super Bowl victories and only one defeat. Tomase, I know you started this with the Boston Herald. You should be ashamed of yourself for writing something like that in a Boston paper. They're all over you up in Beantown and you deserve it. Now apologize Tomase.

And how could u counter sue a team with false allegations if they didn't make a claim?

Go back to work Rams fans. The suit is over. You lost fair and square and began the New England dynasty. That was the biggest upset in Super Bowl history and one of the greatest games ever.

Just because Walsh didn't have the 2002 Walkthrough of the Rams didn't mean it DIDN'T HAPPEN. Just that he didn't have the tape. The Herald claimed an "unnamed source" who was an employee at the time. They didn't name Matt Walsh specifically. And if you were to tape signals during the AFC Championship games. What would stop you from taping the SUPERBOWL??

Just because your "Superbowl winning" image is forever tarnished because your team CHEATS. Doesn't make your little "vindication" lap any easier. We don't go around taping other teams defensive signals (or at least stupid enough to get caught if we did ha). And almost all people would agree that the Pats are cheaters (with the most important being Roger Goodell) as opposed to your folk "hero" in Steeler country. You sound like a Cowboy fan who recently jumped off that bandwagon in the 90's to join the Patriots bandwagon. You profess zero loyalty (judging by your previous post) and just about as much class.

cheating isn't very patriotic. Hope the patriots make it to the superbowl this year, so the Eagles can show them what would have happened in a game where the patriots didn't cheat. Oh...wait... the Patriots won't make it to the superbowl, cuz they can't cheat anymore.

you don't deserve +2 for your comment. The Pats made it 18-0 last year all AFTER the taping. They got where they were last year (in the superbowl) without any taping. Oh wait I forgot, you obviously know nothing! so why would I argue with you?

i think you forgot to add a 1 right after the 18- part.

Just because he doesn't have the tapes of the Eagles in the Superbowl walk through with the Pats doesn't mean that the Eaglesl Didn't cheat. I'm basing my information on your information which is zero. You lost in a Super Bowl and you can't even give the opposing team credit. If you had the record of the Patriots you would have been targeted too. Hats off to the Steelers owner who acknowledged that the taping had nothing to do with the outcome of the games. Philly fans have always been the biggest wimps in sports and that's why everybody hates you.BOW YOUR HEADS PHILASELFDESTRUCTIRIANS and jump on the Beantown Express. Who cares if you jumped ship? Philly sucks and you know it. It's a sportsfans nightmare.

players taking steroids probably doesn't have an outcome on the game either cough RODNEY HARRISON cough, but it still has consequences, and tarnishes their legacy/character.

that's right! because Rodney harrison is the only one that ever took steroids right? You are so biased it is pathetic.
