Ray's Blog...It's OUR Time Now

What's up everyone, I am happy to join the Yardbarker world...This is my first of many blog posts, I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you, and responding to your questions and comments whenever I can.

I think that through the blog, you can expect is just an open honest view that a lot of people won't share. A lot of people have perspectives but I truly believe that even a fool is counted wise until he opens his mouth.

The beauty of what I want to tell you guys is that if you're a true fan of the Baltimore Ravens, go look at our record when we play in November and December. They're talking about all these hard teams that we've got. But the bottom line is no matter who lines up and plays football against us... if you're a Ravens fan, your bet is good.

When you look at our defense, we're sitting right now I think number 8 in defense. We were kind of the same way the last 3 or 4 years and we're number 1 in rushing defense. There are so many things that we're doing as a team right now that is going to prepare us for when we get into the second-half of the season.

I put a thought of the week on the board leading into our locker room every week. Things that we, as a team need to focus on.

This week, the message was: The only thing close is horseshoes. Take this win and lets roll. It's OUR time right now.

By that, I mean that nothing else matters. You hear all the things that people want to talk about like the game was close and that game was close. The only thing close counts is horseshoes. And that's why I put it up there. Because in this business, there's only one thing that matters and that's a win and a loss. If we're 1-3, then everybody wants to say, 'Oh, the Ravens ain't this.' We're 2-1. We're sitting second in our division, and the only thing that matters in our mind right now is Cleveland. That's it. That's a division game, not a Jamal rivalry. To all these former guys, it's a Cleveland, divisional game -- one that we need to win. So my message is very simple: it's time to get done what we need to get done as a team. That's special teams, offense, and defense. And that's why the message is what it was.

Here's a very simple personal message for off the field: Always work. Always know that the greatest gift in life is love. So the greatest way to express love is to always walk in love. And walking in love sometimes means you've got to go through a lot of pains to even see yourself in the other side of love. So a lot of things now, off the field, when you're dealing with everyday issues...understand that everyday issues are supposed to be there...but at least seventy-percent of them we create ourselves. But when we're able to slow life down, we'll really appreciate chasing our purposes.

My message in the Ravens locker room this week...

if you guys just had a offense to go with that defense you might have a shot of going somewhere.

The offense is looking better this year: Boller looks pretty sharp; McGahee looks great; McNair, knock on wood, looks good when he's healthy; the young offensive line has been playing well with J.O. out because of a bad toe...

Apparently it was the BROWNS' time today! Someone better tell Bart Scott that he should probably stop the other team's offense before he starts dancing around the field after tackles.

I'm glad to see you here Ray... I'm a Niners fan but with all honesty I can say watching the Ravens play defense is one of the most amazing things in sports period. Theres no other team in the NFL that plays with that kind of intensity. So even though I may be rooting against you, the respect for what yall can do is through the roof.

I have a question though, do you believe in the Madden Curse? after the season you, michael vick, and shaun alexander had after appearing on the madden cover. Would you do it again if they offered it to you?

Nice, we get some defense on YB

Good to see ya Ray and welcome!

Ray mother freaking Lewis!?!? Glad to see you on Yardbarker!! Wins are the only stat that matter. The more players on your team that feel that way, the better your team is going to be. Looking forward to your take on the rest of this season.

Welcome to Yardbarker, Ray!

Despite all Jamal has done for Charm City, I hope you put him through a world of hurt on Sunday.

GO RAVENS!

im an eagles fan but i think ur a good athlete probably the best at ur position good luck.

Welcome aboard Ray, most of us know, through out the stats, let the games take care of them selves. How is that tricep? Best of luck this Sunday- one game at a time... Tim

I can't believe we finally have a hall of famer in the yard! Ray I hope you have a great season and your tricep gets better.

WOW! Ray Lewis, man. Like fbkid said, its great to have a future HOFer in the Yard. Been a fan of yours for quite some time now and have to say that your not just the best defensive player in the last 10 years, but the best leader. You guys are gonna kill the Browns. Good luck

P.S. Great to have a person from "THE U" in here

Great job by the folks running YB for getting Ray in here.

It is always good to see someone who has been following you for a long time, and it seems like you have. Thanks for the props, I really try to do right by my team and my fans, and me being a leader just comes from that…Keep on pulling for us, we are looking to do great things for and with our fans â€" Luv the "U"

Wow! I am so glad to have a Raven on the yard. I like the Ravens because you guys have an awesome defense; however, I love the Ravens because my homeboy McNair is there. I attend Alcorn State University with Steve and I know his capability. He is an excellent QB and you guys will get the wins with him. People seem to forget that he went to the Superbowl with the Titans and Derrick Mason. Just keep Steve healthy and the Ravens will return to the Superbowl. It would be awesome if the Ravens could play the Eagles in the superbowl. LOL

Glad to see that you have joined into the blog world!! I too am a new member since my cousin Kyle Harrison is also sharing the same website. I have been a Ravens fans for years and its is becuase of YOU!!!! I love your city and have a ball everytime I am able to visit. I will defintly continue to check in to see what you are writing!! I don't have the NF Ticket this year :( so I am sick that I am not going to be able to see you guys play every Sunday so I am really going through withdrawl!! Now that I am connected with your blog site I feel that I really won't be missing out too much. Peace and Blessing to you and the team with the game against Cleveland tomorrow!! And I agree with you Its OUR Time Now and Forever.!!!
Thought for the day:" I will fear no evil :for thou art with me.... -Psalm 23:4
I shall not fear!!!!

You sound like a person of faith, and a person who loves football…That is my kind of fan!! Unfortunately it seems like you can't see us every week, so hopefully the yard will help you out in keeping up with us. A lot of times we don't know who we are connected with spiritually, but you putting that Psalms 23:4 lets me know we have a connection. When I read this, I could tell you have a pure heart, keep the faith. Looking forward to helping you follow us this season.

Not only am I a person of faith but truly a believer that HE does answers prayers. I am so excited and shocked that you took the time to read my blog and what I had to say! I was too excited that you guys beat San Fran on Sunday I had alot of bets riding on you guys ( I cook so I was going to have bake many sweet potatoe pies if you guys lost but since you did I have my choice of many restuarants to choose from. :)!!! I will continue to keep you, yours and the team in my prayers not only while you are on the field but in you day to day livings which I know can be hectic being in or out of the spot light. Thank you so much for answering me you do not know how this has made my day.
Peace and blessings

If you have a chance read Psalms 34 that is the one that helps me out when things get real tough..
always

I am a bears fan and I fear the ravens.

Hey Ray and welcome to the Yard. I have always enjoyed watching you play on the field, and appreciate how you are not afraid to speak your mind off the field. I hope that through this blog you can still feel that way, I think I speak for everyone when I say that we love the athletes on this site who are honest, and unafraid. Have a good game!

You know, I really believe, at least in my arena, it is better to be respected than liked. I just believe in honesty, I am not going to be afraid to speak up about things I feel strongly about, and no one else should be afraid either. Keep the love coming, we feel it in BMore.

Hey Ray Welcome! I love your passion for the game and I think your Great man!

hey Ray i hear your a big madden player im ranked 3000 in the world. I know you probably dont have time but if you ever wanted to play online my gamertag is joesfan14

Ray, as a huge fan of yours from right here in San Antonio Tx, I just want to say that is a dream to be able to talk to you in any form! Not only are you the greatest football player on the face of this earth, but as a man you are even better! You are an inspiration to people every where, because you are a living and breathing testimony of what god can do to a person if you give your life to him!
If i could offer any encouragement at all ray, is to not change for anyone! Continue to be yourself. You are a beautiful person both on the outside and inside, and god definately has plans for your life!

I have said it before, you can be connected with people without even knowing it, and we all love our fans no matter where they are. I appreciate the fact that you know where I am coming from and that sometimes you get knocked down, but with faith, you can conquer all. It excites me to know that I am connected with you because of the man I am, and the person you are. There is nothing more you can ask in life than someone can attest to my character and integrity as a man and football player. Thank you for your kind words.

Welcome aboard, Ray! Looking forward to hearing what you have to say, since your one of sport's most passionate athletes! The Ravens finally have a QB and hopefully the offense can help out the defense, for a change! Again, welcome abroad, man!

Yo, Five Two !!!
The only things close are horseshoes and HAND GRENADES !!!

In week 14 I don't wanna see any horseshoes left standing !!!

welcome aboard, Ray! Look forward to reading some of your thoughts throughout the NFL season. I have a good feeling this weekend McGahee will have a great game

Welcome Ray. I'm Baltimore born, but living in Austin (watching the Longhorns implode to Kansas as I type this). Will be watching the game tomorrow with your numbers on. Go get us another win!!

I'll be at M&T on the 14th for the Rams. (That's my BDAy, so I'll expect a win then, too ;)

Happy Belated Birthday, hopefully the win was a good present for you…

Like the fact that we have fans all over the country…It's important for us to keep ties with our fans outside of Baltimore, after all, you guys are who we play 4. Keep coming back, I'll keep writing…Don't lose the faith with your Longhorns (even though we all know the "U" is the team), staying faithful to your roots is important…God Bless

Omg! I love you ray lewis lol... you are so awesome! I bet you hear that alot tho cuz you are so awesome! Finally more ravens players on yb! I really like oyu and mark clayton.... u r both right up there on the greatest player list lol.... i was real worried about you when ya hurt urself that one game cuz seem to be the man who keeps the team hype lol...... goodness i love football so much lol... ya better put those browns in place lol

And watching you out on the field, being the General and heavy artillery gets me pumped.
You are the heart and soul that holds this team together.I hope you never get to wear another
NFL uniform.

Peace Bro.
Paul,Raven fan in England

Paul,
Appreciate the love from New England, I know it can't be easy being a Baltimore fan up there…

Man, I'm with you, I can feel you on the action movies…I LOVE Gladiator and 300, those are the things that get me pumped up for a game…EVERYONE in our locker room can almost recite 300 by heart. The love, the dedication, the passion, we can ALL learn from those movies. I'll keep holding the team together from here…You keep holding our fans together up north.

" It's not the Ravens against Jamal"
You just can't win with hate can you. (sorry about the 06 playoffs)
Glad you men have your heads right.
Don't you ever stop dancing, if not on the field then in the tunnel.
You are an inspired individual.

Ray you are the man, but as a diehard Ravens fan your guys performance today was totally pathetic, another 8-8/9-7 season.

hey ray lewis, u r the best, AND WHATS YOUR 40 TIME?

Ray Lewis.... on YardBarker?!?!?! Man you got the most heart for your game in professional sports. You gotta teach that to eveyone around you bro.

I am humbled by your words, thank you…

I give everything I have out there every time I play, all I ask is my people around me give the same. You just need to follow your heart and give everything you have in whatever you do, and you will be successful…Keep the luv coming

HOTTIE! WWOWOOWOWOWOWOW

I love you. You are hot. Ok now that I got that out of the way WTF with the loss to Cleveland? I was counting on you guys!! I thought that was a definite..I guess there are no definites in the NFL. I will be watching you guys next week and you WILL win against SF!!

I'll bet we don't see any new posts from Ray Ray after that crapfest Sunday.

thats just not nice.

And was I wrong????

He replied to me 19 days after you made your post...

As an avid Browns fan, I was obviously happy to see you guys lose yesterday. Even though The Ravens are a hijacked Browns team (not your fault) I have to give respect where it is due. You are, undoubtedly, the best LB in the NFL today. All of the naysayers wondering if you were still going to be able to crunch it out at your "accelerated age" have been shut up by your relentless performance yet again. Keep up the good work, and if you ever want to team up with Jamal again, Cleveland would love to have you.

Ray, I'm an Eagles fan but I've always respected your on-field work and took the time to check out your blog and I must say that I really appreciate your off-the-field advice segment. You're a good man.

Keep your head up, Ray. Get 'em next Sunday.

It is great to see you here Ray. You are an amazing athelete and have such a way of uplifting both your team mates & your fans. So, we're 2 - 2 Thankfully the Steelers lost an dwe're still one game out....
Prayers for a good game against the 49rs on Sunday & a healthy roster.
