Vincent Says Andy Is Making The Same Mistake

Ashley Fox reports that Troy Vincent says Andy Reid is making the same mistake he did when he had Vincent, Taylor and Harris. He said that this kind of situation with Reid is becoming repetitive, and that he Al, and Bobby talked things out among themselves. All though Reid compared this current situation to the one he had with Harris, Taylor, and Vincent, it really isnt. Taylor and Vincent were already established pro-bowl guys, and Harris was a rookie so he knew his role. This is different these guys have all been to the pro-bowl and have been starters, Harris wasnt, so how is Reid going to manage this situation? Here's what Ashley Fox suggested if it hasnt already happened, Here's what Reid should have done after signing Samuel to that monster contract in February and what he must do tomorrow when the Eagles' minicamp begins (if he didn't do it tonight after the team convened): Sit down with Sheppard, Brown and Samuel and honestly discuss how this three-man rotation of veteran corners will work. Explain his expectations to each player. Listen to their concerns and gripes. Don't be averse to conflict. Communicate.

I hope this doesnt turn into a T.O. situation by the time training camp begins. I dont want any disruption before and during the season. This is going to be interesting in the coming months. Here are a few quotes from Vincent on the situation

1"Good managers and great coaches sit them down," Vincent said. "These are grown men. It's good to talk about it. You're a better football team with all three, but you're not a better football team with all three and one or two aren't happy with the situation.

2."It's not about pampering," said Vincent, whose second term as NFL Players Association president ended earlier this year. "Guys want the truth. Speculation? It's tough to come to work under those conditions. You put a lot of people at risk, and I know that's not Jeffrey Lurie's intention or Joe Banner's intention. They're spending big money to build the franchise and win games, not to have guys constantly at odds with the head man.

3. "This is becoming repetitive."

In addition to Lito being unhappy, there are reports that Sheldon is also very unhappy per trenton times.

In addition to Lito Sheppard, CB Sheldon Brown is also disgruntled with the Eagles and Coach Andy Reid.

Brown is unhappy with the way the Eagles have handled their offseason moves, starting with the signing of Asante Samuel. Brown is also angered that he and Sheppard were "lied to" by Reid over an unspecified issue. Finally, according to Brown, many players are not happy with the message the team sent by trading away its first-round pick last weekend for an extra one in 2009.

how could they be mad at trading the first round pick?

im guessing they feel they want the player now to add another weapon to a team who has a chance to win this year?

This is all speculation. Brown hasn't said crap about anything. Reid will get this thing figured out with Lito.

its a tough situation. lito and brown are great players. but lito was ALWAYS hurt, and that hurt the team. i guess he just needs to tell them the truth, that is they are both capable of doing the job, but because of injuries (not on browns part) they haven't gotten it done..... so he had to do something. i do find it disappointing that bdawk, westy, and mcnabb take offense. i understand that they have personal relationships with both players, but personal relationships don't win games. talent and competition does. i hate to say it... but all three players (not so much westy) are getting old. its no wonder that they can now share the same opinion as vincent. as players get old, they get replaced and they arent happy about it. mcnabb and bdawk already have their replacements barking up their tree and i cant blame jolly fat man for planing for the future. he has a job to do to.

I agree with Troy Vincent. He is so well educated, as he is also from Bucks County. (HAHA)

I know that Lito is injury prone, but he has yet he is the same CB we went to the Big Bowl with...
I feel like to just denounce him as though he can not make it back to that form is not only dismissive, but also divisive. It is clear why someone like Dawkins would come to Sheppard's aid, and why Vincent expresses concern, as they are truly making a task out of cutting. I believe he is worth the money and an investment, and the least we could do is give him a chance.

*It is unclear why Dawkins is partly to Sheppards aid, and why Vincent expresses concern; As they are making a task out of cutting Lito.

Puma, i have to agree 110%!!!

Screw Sheldon Brown!!!!!!!! He really isnt even that good. If he's going to open his mouth and start drama get rid of him. Im tired of seeing his slow ass get smoked by receivers 3 out of 4 downs and i agree with you rhcp879, why the hell would they be mad? There wasn't a position that the eagles needed to desperately address.

wow dude, sheldon has been the most consistent and solid DB for the Eagles since Taylor and Vincent left. He's always on the field and always making plays, Lito is the better player no doubt, but how often is he on the field, not often at all because he is always injured.

sheldon brown never bites his tounge and he hasnt said a thing as for lito the only way we give him a ne3w contract is if he plays 16 games this year i think well be strong with all three guys but would be good if we could get a receiver an loose lito not likely but if we keep lito i agree hes amazing but hes getting part time money because as to date hes a part time player missed 14 games the last 3 years and left a number of games early so if he can prove this season he can stay healthy and co exist with the new situation give him a deal thats more than fair

I agree that Reid needs to do a better job of dealing with complications up front! he did it with TO, he did it with Michael Lewis, and other players as well. He keeps them on the outside and never deals with confrontations head-on (cheap shot I know, but similarly to how he deals with his family problems). Look I love Reid as a coach I do, but nobody is perfect and this is something he can definitely work on. Sit Lito, Samuel, and Brown down and say listen, there is a strong possibility you will all be here this season and we are planning on a 3 man rotation of sorts or whatever it may be and explain to them what the plan is. This way atleast they know what is goin on. The biggest problem right now is that they are not communicating with their players and everyone is always on the outside until it comes to cutting time and then it's suddenly "hey thanks for everything but we don't need you anymore" it's ridiculous. Listen I would love to see all 3 corners on the team because the bottom line is we aren't going to get ANYTHING for Lito that will help us this year, it would only be a 3rd or 4th round pick for next year.

they are grown men andy reid should not have to hold their hands they should know how to deal with these things they are men not children.asante said it best when asked the question about all the tension he said it has nothing to do with him he just does what coach tells him to do spoken like a real man not a child . they say they want to win a championship so what is stopping them ,i'll tell you this petty wear your heart on your sleeve crap that's what.grow up and play footbal stop whining about how much money you are getting because they get paid well enough.

The 2 situations ARE NOT the same. Vincent and Taylor were OLD! Harris was an up and coming star with a me first attitude. If Vincent and Taylor were in their primes...he could liken the two situations, but they were at the tail end of their careers...not the case with Asante, Sheldon, and Lito.

Ya lito is unhappy but I dont think he is going to go all T.O on us he isnt an ass like that! These guys will only be together for a year at best so next year some one will be gone.

Last time I checked the Eagles ended up pretty good post Taylor, Harris, and Vincent. We actually when to the Superbowl without any of them. Reid knows what he is doing. Lito is a class act and he is remaining optimistic about the situation and Sheldon has already said that he think everything will work out. Sheldon also stated that he is not upset with Asante's signing because he knows he signed a contract a couple years ago and Asante took the risk of playing with a guaranteed contract by not extending with the Pats and it worked out for him.
