Enough of the Busch-Earnhardt comparison

May 9
Enough of the Kyle Busch-Dale Earnhardt Sr. comparisons already. Please.

It’s been nauseating to see the Kyle Busch-is-more-Dale Earnhardt-than-Dale Earnhardt Jr. comparisons this week.

First of all, Earnhardt Jr. has done nothing to try to make people believe that he is or wants to be Intimidator Jr. – he wants to follow in the footsteps of his father in winning races and being respected by his fellow competitors. He’s going to do that in his own style, in his own way. He might be a little nicer to his fellow competitors on the track, but don’t mistake that as being less worthy – maybe Earnhardt Jr. is just a little more calculated than his dad was.

Earnhardt Jr. is comfortable being who he is and not being Dale II. For that, he should be applauded instead of being ridiculed. He does it on and off the track. Could you really see his father building a country bar in downtown Charlotte? Probably not.

The other is the comparison between Dale Sr. and Busch. I just don’t get it. Busch will put a bumper on you, but he’s more than likely going to do it trying to make a daring move and seeing whose car will stick. Earnhardt Sr. would put the bumper on another driver to push him out of the way. He would make a daring move, but he wouldn’t lose control – he would just hold his line and dare his opponent to do the same.

Off the track, there seems to be little comparison. But remember, Busch is only 23 years old. Earnhardt Sr. didn’t compete in his first Cup race until he was 24 and didn’t run his first full season until he was 28. Few people knew Dale Earnahrdt Sr. at 23 the way they know Busch at 23.

It seems weird to compare Busch, still sort of a kid for the most part, with Earnhardt Sr. the man. And isn’t it time to stop trying to make Earnhardt Jr. a clone of his father?

Wow McPackrasss...This article is demented and SAD on so many levels..... First off,... I just typed an emotional rant exposing this article as pre-meditated propaganda which the editorial board, ever-conscious of the almighty dollar, prepared to counter Jeff Owens "unpopular opinion". Sadly, the censorship police underestimate our intelligence and so..IT WAS "flitered" (read "censored")....leaving me with little energy.... To simplify and avoid the censorship "filters"..... I'll just say this.... NOBODY IS ARGUING WHETHER OR NOT JUNIOR IS A "GOOD GUY".....

....continued......what does the fact that Junior has the "courage" to open a country bar in charlotte have to do with ANYTHING??????.... THIS GARBAGE RIGHT THERE IS THE JIST OF THE ARGUMENT. Anyway, the good news is that you actually, in your hast to conform, make the point that KB is actually BETTER than Dale Earnhardt SENIOR. and for that my friend..... with your dress socks cutting off circulation to your soul.... i say THANK YOU!!!!

Folks!!!! I'm sorry but this is so insulting...... Just LISTEN to the language of this guy's argument.... read the title of this article..... He says.."ENOUGH!!!!!...." ENOUGH????? Where does McPackrass get the AUTHORITY to tell YOU when you can stop thinking for yourselves. "ENOUGH????" What?????!!!??? In a sport that seemingly thrives on conformity, do we really need a lifeguard with bad posture blowing his shrill whistle at us?....every time you dare to have an opinion that may or may not be (at least at this CURRENT date and time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) good for the bottom line??????.... OR!!!!!....is this kind of thing why you stopped going to the pool in the first place? Whatever..... I feel sick.

Mr. Pockrass,I agree!! Junior is his own MAN and a real class act! I believe that Busch wrecks anyone at anytime, not knowing or caring who. Enough about that sewer creature (Busch).

Enough? Why is everyone so scared to compare another driver to that of Big E? Why can it not be possible to have another driver have his same attitudes on the track?

I'm not scared...or stupid. You can't compare an "immature, wreck anyone at any time" driver to someone with complete car control.

Yes we have seen the same races. I process what is recorded by the camera, not what the announcers promote.

I see what I see. I see a driver come from a lap down multiple times, save his car when completely sideways and make moves no one else will make because he feels confident he can make them. Now before all you Kyle Busch hating Jr fans throw stones, need you be reminded what happened in Kansas last year? Or how about you all take a look at your own lives and count the times you all have screwed up at some point.

Interesting point about Kansas last year.... I have NO DOUBTS that Junior did NOT mean to wreck Kyle in that situation...... which leaves only one sad conclusion...... it was just some simply old-fashioned astoundingly BAD DRIVING!! In fact it was bad driving and poor decision making to the point that as disappointed as I was that KB got wrecked...... I was honestly just as embarassed for Junior. Not mad..... just embarassed. Not to mention dumbfounded when I stood up to Boo Junior during introductions at the next race....only to find that nobody was joining in. Guess I am missing something.

I would BOO jr. in a heartbeat-I don't even consider him a racer much less a driver. He is just a little golden boy who dosen't deserve all the hype he gets. Without his last name he would be just another driver like all the rest. You need to give credit where credit is due and he hasn't done anything. I cheer for everyone except him!!
