LIST: The State of Hip Hop Lies in these Artists........

Im going to stay mainstream because I dont role with underground rappers for the only reason that they still not famous. As well im talking about Hip Hop which is rapping with beats n melody not Rap which is just rapping with horrendous beats. With those two criterions said dont mention any rap artists who have no beat or arent famous. Now with that being said and the releases of albums from the heavy hitters of hip hop I would like to mention some hip hop artists that are keeping hip hop alive today... Dont mention any rapper in the 90's its 2008...I dont want to hear how hip hop was so much better which is your opinion to the 90's generation. Music taste is all opinion and I cant bash anyone on what they listen to as well nor can you bash me for who I beleive Is cool to listen to..

My ranking is based upon

1) Lyrics

2) Beat (Needs to be jubilant or something to get you going)

3) Consistency

4) More Haters the More I Like them....

No one has the guts to put my number 1 as number 1....sorry I do and ill take heat for it....but I got so many songs to back it up...

Notables not included:

JayZ--his time is up like Jesse Jackson...Lebron and JayZ buttbuddies for life...

50- are you serious...not even worth 50 cents...His former Wife lives in my town and couple blocks from my house which was burnt down by 50..

Young BUck- My fav of G Unit, but Im a fan of hip hop and his producers regarding the Beats are trash to the top 6....that being said he has very good lyrics

Saigon, Styles P and NY rappers---sorry my ignorance starts here with NY..I dont listen to them

Rick Ross- raps about the same things everyday which goes on with the next couple rappers Im bout to mention..BUt I like when the whole Miami gang in a song together..

Papoose- lyrically tough but I dont rock his music that much...

Jeezy-see Rick Ross explanation

Dipset---I only Like Juelz Santana and being from NY its DIPSET ALL DAY with these homos but nope I abhor the crap they spitting Camron and Jim Jones...

Eminem---idk where hes at, but I liked his music

UGK- Bun B is nice and RIP Pimp C

Paul wall, Mike Jones, Lil Flip, Slim Thug---Im sorry Houston Texas we have a problem with these clowns..Though they got some good hits anyone can bang too.

Snoop Dogg---hes losing it with this pop music

Nelly--->I like him but hes more pop than hip hop

Akon--->pop more than hip hop...I like his music

T-Pain--->i dont like what he puts out at all

Flo Rida-->pop more than hip hop and hes really a good musician though...

I Do like DJ JAzzy Jeff n Fresh Prince---their music was hilarious back in the day as well, i have almost all the albums lol...

Eric b and Rakim , Tupac, NWA (Eazy E n Dre ), Snoop Dogg back in Day, Slick rick---i love their music

Enjoy my picks and feel free to say what you want, Music taste is ONES OPINION so dont bash me and be an idiot posting stupid comments.......Im going to post a couple songs from each artist I like....if i didnt mention artists that arent up sorry for my ignorance...

NOTE IF I DIDNT MENTION ARTISTS tTHAT ARE UP SORRY FOR MY IGNORANCE....MY LIST IS RAPPERS WHO I BELIEVE WILL CARRY HIP HOP FOR THE UPCOMING YEARS!!! SO DONT MENTION RAPPERS PAST THEIR PRIME OR FROM THE 90's...

    Chamillionaire

Haters R Us for this artist. the media destroyed him with ODing on Ridn Dirty and tabbed him as some one hit wonder which sadly enough made Chamillionaire work even harder for his next album, Ultimate Victory, which didnt sell well in US but went platinum Globally. That being said Ultimate Victory in my opinion was way better than 50 cents album last year and Kanye West. The whole album is insane barring a couple songs. My favorites are Morning News, Evening News, Me BReakn Up and Wont Let you Down. Why I rate him at Number 1 is the fact that his lyrics have meaning, the beat to his songs are uplifting, he sings which is brave for any rapper, you wont be disappointed when he comes out with new stuff (his mixtapes are insane), and the fact that more people hate on him than people hate on Bush..well actually not that much but its a hyperbole..To those who hate on him so be it, I cant change your mind, but those with an open mind check out these videos Im going to post. He will be coming out with Mixtape Messiah 4 August 27th which will be first Mixtape he is putting on sale, the previous 3 are on chamillionaire.com available to download for freeeeeeeee!!!

    Lupe Fiasco

Check out the Album the Cool...He fits all my criterion..Great Lyrics, great beat, consistent but he doesnt have that many haters....Little Weapon lyrically is a piece of art regarding children soldiers in Africa, and Paris Tokyo is a great song for any boyfriend/girlfriend. A song from previous album American Terrorist is lyrically insane. As a fan of hip hop listen to his music period.

    Nas

His lyrics are insane, At times his beats are boring but with his new album that just came out it validates why he is number 1 to many hip hop fans...Sly Fox and America are pretty cool songs on his new album, Nas, For me hes a 3 cuz I cant listen to rappers just rapping without beat, its why many dislike rap.hiphop because "music invloving a person is one that sings and not talks" ( which is rap/at times hip hop) but with that being said dude is one of the smartest rappers out. He just told Jesse Jackson Your time is Up...Thats hilairous I dont care who you are...Keep it up Nas, I know to many your Number 1 n i respect that but for me I got you at 3....He is in the later stage of his career but he hasnt slowed down which Jay Z honestly has..Keep it coming Nas!!

    Lil Wayne

... His lyrics are all over the place and at times the voice altering effects is what does it for me to not listen to him. He has punchlines here and there and dude comes out with more songs in a week than Wesley Snipes, Jason Stathanm and Jean Van Claudde Dam come out in a week. Yea itts great for fans to get new songs on a constant basis but then again what are you really getting.. T pain style orchestrated eccentric spitting from Lil Wayne with no purpose. That being said I give him kudos for his hard work and the fact that he has haters. He has good beats and here and their good lyrics. he has Swag and dude needs to stop getting into trouble, what type of role model are you mR. wayne.. Lets just say you also owe the media a big high five for the gr8 marketing job they did for your mediocre album the Carter III. .Lyrically is why he is at 4 because I feel like an idiot listening to him. Cash Money Millionaires were amazing by the way....500 Degreez and Juve, Mannie Fresh, BG, Baby were the ish back in the day...Back that A** Up, Block is HOt, #1 Stunna!!

    Andre 3000

I love outkast--favorite hip hop group of all time (Southerplayalisticadi ilackFunkymusick gr8 summer song) and andre 3000 is a lyrical genius...why he is at 5 is that he doesnt come out with new stuff. Hes the most versatile artist in my opinion.

  • 6
    Ludacris

Too lazy to write alot...Hes just an awesome artist...I dont think hes past his prime...Dudes probably maxn relaxn like Eminem waiting for the right time to drop another album...

  • 7
    Kanye

Lots of people requested him....As much I dislike his persona and his feeling that we all owe him something. Last time i checked you owe God a big thank you or youd be dead....But that being said what people said below validates why your here. Lots of people hate you as well hahaha and you do have good lyrics but compared to Chamillionaire and Lupe your beats are peon to those Kings of Hip Hop....my opinion.

    The Game

Happy he left G unit as well as Young Buck but that being said he needs to bring back what NWA and Public Enemy left back in the day...BUt lets be serious times changed since 90's where rappers were more incorporated into making political motivated songs which I believe is one gr8 thing of music. Bashing the gov't for the corrupted crap they do.. Personally I dont know if Game ever gets political but I know almost all above have political songs. Check out Dope Boys, Who Run It....a couple new Game Songs....

    T.I.

Always liked him but when it comes to lyrics he fails compared to everyone else above...Hes got beats , hes got consistency with hits and the beef part all I know is Shawty Lo but who cares about that one hit wonder.. With his new album coming out soon and a Good Song that just came out Whatever You Like which is definetly like Lollipop from Lil Wayne. Its more pop song than a hip hop song but it definetly would get lots of air play soon.

    "The Underappreciated"

The Roots, Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and Juelz Santana...my ignorance is among all theese except Santana, he fits into all my criterion but hasnt been out with anything in a while...A song i like from Roots newest album, "Get Busy"

song above is brand new PUT ON..and this one hear got banned from TV a week after shown seriously..Truth hurts

i hate it when the song plays faster then it buffers

Lupe Paris Tokyo

Little Weapon

Sly Fox

America

Lil wayne--Shoot me Down

bun b n wayne

Here's my favorites:

Legends: Biggie, Nas
Todays Greats: Lil Wayne, T.I., The Game, Rick Ross
Underappreciated: Brisco, Glasses Malone, Juelz Santana

Good call with Brisco and Santana. Haven't heard much from Glasses but from what I have heard, I dig it.

If you want to hear G., Malone at his best, listen to the song called Haters with Wayne and Birdman. He also has a good song with Akon called Certified, but the Certified remix is better.

Pretty nice list. I recommend for you to check out Saigon. Really can't wait for the DJ Drama/Outkast mixtape. Kanye is my favorite rapper though, look at all he's done. His rhymes are tight and humorous, he's like no one out there, and his beats are always the best. And most of all, he makes almost of his beats as well as every good rapper in the game right now. Also, where's The Game at? And with your criteria for your list, Kanye is good lyrically, beats are fire, has put out 3 extremely successfully albums that I can listen to whenever, and has more haters than anyone out there.

Personally, I really don't like Kanye at all. I think he is overrated and way ttoo full of himself. I really can't get into one of his beats either. I'd say Wayne has more haters than Kanye as well.

My friend is a big Saigon fan, he can't wait til his album comes out.

wayne is just as cocky...hes all about himself in every song

If you actually understand the lyrics, you would know its not all about himself.......its OK that he is cocky though cuz Wayne is a beast, his lyrics show that he has a great mind, he understaqnds things

cant help but be a lil cocky when you sellin a mil the first week and blowin every other artsit right outta the water

exactly

his lyrics are straight trash...he says s***that i just cant comprehend what went through his mind when he thought of it...good lyrics to me isnt trying to stretch too far to come up with a punchline...good lyrics is speaking your mind and really saying something like jay-z does and lupe fiasco does and jadakiss is just nasty and fab is nasty but lil wayne is just overrated as hell he was absolutley nobody 3 years ago...if i were to say lil wayne is amazing 3 years ago everyone would laugh their ass off and say yeah right that little dude from cash money? hes just a fad like 50 cent was

yeah one my friends listens to Saigon all day....i just havent followed through with listening to him...I could add 4 of the notables to make it 10...which i probably will soon...But now I watCh BATMAN....Im off to the BATCAVE>..and thanks for the comments....ill comment on all when i get back...

ur top 6 is horrible

hahaha that makes sense especialyl the fact that you commented back with Lupe is nasty and Luda....but whatever your opinion.. and the only main stream stuff most people know from Chamillionaire are Turn it Up, Ridn Dirty, Grown and Sexy , HIp HOp Police/Evening News...Other than that he doesnt get any play and Im pretty sure you didnt listen to his album Ultimate Victory which top to bottom was the best album out last year in the hip hop game. Critics gave Ultimate Victory a much better rating then Kanye and 50 as much as i h8 critics. its all good tho my intention wasnt to change anyones opinions....

last year as in 2007? i believe an album called graduation came out in 07 and i dont care what the damn critics say...kanyes album graduation sold 957 000 in the first week and took one more day to go plat...so commenting on someones statement before...wayne isnt blowin everyone out of the water hes just more publicized therefore it took him one less day to go plat..big deal....i wouldnt bother listening to a single song by chamillionaire if he didnt have good production (the runners produced come back to the streets which i listened to a few times because of the beat) but chamillionaire himself has an annoying voice and all he tlaks about is the industry...all he ever says too repetitive

lupe is nasty and so is luda but CHAMILLIONAIRE????? HIS MAIN STREAM STUFF IS GARBAGE...just my opinion

Yeah, I gotta say, Chamillionaire is pretty bad

THANK YOU

Nas.... this guy is one of the few that has anything worth listening to nowadays.
Biggie was born for it, but Nas brings soul to the mic where everyone else just wants to BS about money, and women....that gets old quick.
Eminem- not sure what he is up to, he can still write but his early 3 albums were some of the best ever written cuz its straight life, problem is that his life changed and now with money he has less to write about than before. his music now is just personal drama between him and hollywood or DC.

one of the best songs ever written. Eminem- Rock Bottom. thats what music is about.... not killing and fast cars, money and women....

For some reason, I never cared for Eminem that much. I'm not saying he's a bad rapper, I'm just saying I can't get into it, just like Kanye

yeah he is that kinda artist, either love eminem or hate him.
Kanye is such an arrogant POS, he is why I rarely listen to any hip hop ne more.... I actually like a lot of his music but he sucks

thanks, I'm glad someone gets it

Kanye=primadonna

exactly

no doubt, everyone loves that jerk and i can't freakin stand him

Love Chamillionaire. the Evening News song is the $h!+
I don't care much for Luda, though. His delivery is so annoying to me.

As far as Wayne - I love his voice - even without the effects - he just sounds original.

way to rep Wayne GSWgirl

evening News is hilarious, its just sad how they stopped showing it like a week after it came out last weekkk...Morning News is wild as well....

Lil Wayne voice-no comment, The T pain voicebox is the worst version of wayne and whenever he tries to be jamaican....

dont like chamillion but the song is def a good one

hey what about common the dude has some of the best lyrics ever and he still is putting out quality albums. drop chamillionaire. i think he's ok but definetly not a hip hop leader. Lupe is the best, and he don;t have many haters because he is so universal with his music.
dude how can you say lil wayne doesn't just talk about himself? i hate him mainly because his lyrics mean nothing he just says similies that have no deeper meaning their just similies.
gotta love luda but he is past his prime and so is nas kinda(i don't mean they don't have it anymore they just are on the back end of thier careers)
you have to put kanye on this list flat out he has some of the best beats, solid lyrics and he gets mad have doesn't that fit all of your paramaters.
others to add: mf doom, matisyahu

if you think Wayne's lyrics mean nothing, then you don't know how to interpret lyrics at all....guess they are to deep for you

Kanye is the one who raps about himself...he's full of himself to the core, plus he whines when he doesn't get his way

i agree with philly duck here...lil wayne has a couple songs that are deep n lyricall swell but lets be serious here, majority time he throws similes every other line and any of us can do it, not that hard...I think we all did it in high school english class and learn what similes are.. or make fun of each others mommas...Yea your right with Common but I dont listen to him, ignorance sorry...

I agree with TC on Kanye tho....but I also agree with philly on his view of Kanye....Many sides to this is why it is opinion n not fact which is a gr8 thing..

please enlighten me on what wayne is saying that is so deep. cause appearntly i dont get it.
I have a friend that for like a year everytime i came over he would play like five wayne songs saying dude it is so sick and after every sone all i could say was, ya those are some great rhymes but that's all they are. His music just scratches the lyrical surface

i agree, if wayne were deep id be drowning in philosophy books figuring out what he really means...Nope his high school education is prevalent in his raps...

He's not exactly famous (sorry if I'm breaking rules here), and I'm not even a huge rap fan - but P.O.S. is AMAZING! His second album, "Audition" is one of the best albums I own.

he kinda sounds like Eminem
