Duke most popular team in college basketball

Based on a nationwide sample from the Harris Interactive Poll of 2,513 U.S. adults, 611 of whom follow college basketball, the Duke Blue Devils are the most popular college basketball team. I can just sense the anti-Duke sentiment brewing as I write this. Relax. Start by taking a deep breath. Have some satisfaction in knowing they got knocked out of the tournament early for the 2nd year in a row. Also, they have a whole slew of white guys the haters love to pick on. So instead of J.J. Redick all by himself, you have Paulus, Scheyer, Singler, Zubek, and Taylor King to rag on.

As a Duke fan, I'm tired of all the white guys as well. Next year tho, they have Elliot Williams coming in, an athletic black kid, just what they need. Plus they might get a 7'2 center thats Sudanese.

They would be really quick and hard to find. All kidding aside, they do need some muscle on the inside. That's the reason they lost the big games this year. Did you check out the Xavier/WVU game? Was pretty damn good. I should be watching DAL/DEN, but tourney tough to turn off.

I'm hoping Duke can recruit John Riek, a 7'2 240 lb center, he'd be a great addition....the Xavier game was damn good

Going to 7 Final Fours in a 9 year span, winning two championships in the process, tends to leave a lasting impression, and understandably so. Of course, getting past the Sweet 16 just once now in 7 years does too...

Honestly, considering that Kansas, UCLA and UNC all sell millions of dollars more merchandise than Duke, how legit it this poll?

The reason they sell more merchandise is because they ALLOW several licensees to do it. Duke only allows one licensee--thus, the reason you never see Duke merchandise in stores.
