Phobia leaves Memphis basketball star ranting and yelling, on the verge of tears

Memphis' Derrick Rose apparently has a debilitating phobia of needles. After Memphis' 92-74 win over Michigan State on Friday, Rose was told he would need four stitches to close a gash over his right eye. This news sent him ballistic, as he stormed out of the locker room, ranting and on the verge of tears. He only calmed down when team officials agreed to glue the cut. His phobia could stem from an incident that happened when he was 7, when a kid ran over his head with a bike. The below link tells the story.

Atleast I didn't get my head ran over by a bike this time...

Texas might need some stitches now if they don't stop this bleeding.

how can you be afraid of needles if you've had five tattoos?

lol, dat makes since how are u afriad of needles and u have five tattoos, i never thought of that till now. There is something wrong with them....lol but Derrick is awesome, but that is a great question to ask him...lol

good point.

This was Rose's explanation of the non-phobia of tattoos: "You really never see the needle," he explained. "You just see an object that is going back and forth. With a needle, you've got to look at it and, man, it's totally different."

You're not serious right?! He said that?! JEEZ!

Used to have a phobia about needles myself, so I kind of understand where he is coming from. If course, they deaden the area being stitched anyway, but that shot to make it numb hurts like hell, especially in the head area.

"His phobia could stem from an incident that happened when he was 7 when a kid ran over his head with a bike."

Then wouldn't he have a fear of bikes, or a least getting run over by them.

Also, if the UCLA fans fail to bring giant syringes to the Final Four game for when Rose shoots free throws, they're clearly missing out on a great opportunity for a BASEketball-esque psychout.

You have to read the story to understand the bike relevance Harvey. And, I agree, giant syringes would be the perfect psych-out for Rose

Hmm...the sarcasm key on my laptop must be malfunctioning.

haha you're a funny one Ol' Harvey

His comment may rate as a classic...""You just see an object that is going back and forth. With a needle, you've got to look at it and, man, it's totally different." Thank you for that one.

rose is just one of these people ,like adrian monk who have an ability to do great things ,but, when it comes to needles rose just doen't like them what can i say , still he is going to be rich so he can buy the glue for his face.

in sports.yahoo they said that when he was 7 he fell off his bike and a boy ran over his head leaving a gash in the back of his head, he didnt want stitches and he wnt crazy. Everyone had to strap him down to get the stitches. Also he said dat he was mad at the people trying to give him stitches so he had a temper tantrum. Also Chris Douglas-Roberts is afraid of needles he wouldnt get his flu shot because of needles. and about the tattoo things, he said he can get tattoos because its tapping his skin not going in the skin, but needles are needles in or out.... lol wow who knew 19 year old men cry for needles, or nearly cry

what a puss, I see why he is playing round ball and not fighting for our country

Wait...that was his only two choices? Eventually get paid millions of dollars to play basketball for a living or go off to war?

What a pussy.

never be limited by two choices. you missed the point, he can't stand a needle, what will he do when a real crises comes. It shows the real chracter of a person. Who really cares about DR and the needle phobia? Just goes to show that getting paid millions of dollars is the choosen path in life. You must believe making millions of dollars is the answer to the world's problems. Look at the pro athletes and their felony records, do you still content this to be the best choice. When the going gets tough I wouldn't want persons like DR in my corner.

You limited it two choices, not me.

I missed the point? The article is about a 19 year old kid who has a phobia of needles. Somehow you found the following terms relevant to that:

fighting for our country
real crises
real chracter of a person
choosen path in life
answer to the world's problems

Talk about leaps of logic. You're asserting if a person has one specific, common phobia that this somehow directly correlates to his crisis management skills.

Also "Look at the pro athletes and their felony records, do you still content this to be the best choice."
What does that have to do with Derrick Rose?

Whoa Harve! This isn't like you to be really agitated and pissed about something as minor as this. Everyone is a ''DIVA'' at one point.... Lemme take that back, Fussy is a better word. As with EVERYONE who shares this planet we call Earth, we all have flaws within our nature. We have Pros/Cons r Greater than/Less than, Best of both Worlds, The better of... You get the point. Everyone has a certain Pet Peeve that they hate about. Whether it be pass experience, Word of mouth relating to about to experience something and so on. In the words of Albert Francis Sinatra: ''THAT'S LIFE!'' Still got Love for you Harve! You're one of my favs up here and will always be. Just loosing up the tie a bit.

Harve, your response and lack of being able to see thru a current situation that will project into the future disappoints many. Your thought process scares me, are you really going to vote for H. Clinton?

No, I think I'm going to write you in actually. I like your all-nonsense platform. It's refreshing.
