Mark Sears Named Third Team All-American by National Association of Basketball Coaches

Alabama men's basketball point guard Mark Sears was named a Third Team All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Wednesday morning.

Sears has now been named to three of the four teams needed for consensus All-American status as he was also tabbed a Second Team All-American by Sporting News and the Associated Press. The United States Basketball Writers Association has yet to release its lists. Additionally, Sears was named to the All-SEC First Team on March 11.

Sears had a phenomenal season for the Crimson Tide, leading the team to a 4-seed in the NCAA Tournament with a 21-11 overall record and a 13-5 record in SEC play. He averaged 21.1 points per game, while adding 4.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He shot over 50 percent from the floor and 40 percent from beyond the arc during the season.

Sears is aiming to lead the Crimson Tide past 13-seed Charleston in the Round of 64 on Friday at 6:35 p.m. CT on truTV. If Alabama wins, it will take on the winner of 5-seed Saint Mary's and 12-seed Grand Canyon in the Round of 32. The Tide's first weekend games will take place at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena/Delta Center in Spokane, Washington.
