Maryland transfer Hakim Hart commits to Villanova
Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

Former Maryland guard Hakim Hart is heading home to his native Philadelphia and will play his final year of eligibility at Villanova.

The 6-foot-8 Hart is coming off his fourth and most productive season at Maryland, when he set career highs of 11.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game over 35 games (all starts).

He started for the better part of three seasons with the Terrapins. In 116 career games (85 starts), Hart has career averages of 8.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.0 steal per contest.

Hart had also declared for the NBA draft when he announced his decision to enter the transfer portal last month.

Villanova is entering its second season under coach Kyle Neptune, who succeeded two-time national title winner Jay Wright following Wright's retirement. The Wildcats missed the NCAA Tournament in 2023.
