Where Tennessee's Rick Barnes ranks among active head coaches with the most NCAA Tournament wins
Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

Tennessee Vols head coach Rick Barnes will be making his 28th trip to the NCAA Tournament this week.

Barnes has led Providence, Clemson, Texas, and Tennessee to the big dance during his Hall of Fame career.

The Hickory, NC native has won 27 NCAA Tournament games during his career, including six tourney wins at Tennessee.

Barnes' 27 tournament wins rank fifth among active college basketball head coaches.

The only active head coaches that have more NCAA Tournament wins than Barnes are Rick Pitino (54), Tom Izzo (55), Bill Self (55), and John Calipari (57).

Barnes has the most wins of any active coach that hasn't won an NCAA Championship.

This year will be one of the best chances that Barnes has had to win a national championship. Despite the Vols' sluggish showing in the SEC Tournament last week, Tennessee is still one of the most complete teams in the tourney. And they're one of the few teams that have a legitimate chance to cut down the nets in Glendale next month.
