'Who's Staying & Who's Going' Conversations to Take Place in Not Too Distant Future
USA TODAY Sports

Kedrian Johnson, Emmitt Matthews Jr., and Erik Stevenson have played their final game at West Virginia with Thursday's 67-65 loss to Maryland in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Joe Toussaint, Tre Mitchell, and Jimmy Bell Jr. all have the ability to come back for a fifth year next season, taking advantage of the free COVID year. It's been a big topic of discussion over the past couple of weeks as the season entered its final stages. And now, Huggins will look to get concrete answers from those three and others in the coming weeks.

"I mean, in a way we've already kind of talked about it," Huggins said about the possibility of them returning. "I think we let them kind of defuse for a while and then we'll sit down with everybody. Not just those guys, but the guys that have exhausted their eligibility. We'll sit down and talk about what we did right and what we did wrong. Who's staying and who's going."

The feeling is that Toussaint and Mitchell will return, but there is some level of uncertainty about Bell's future. Over the last week or so, WVU has contacted a few bigs in the transfer portal, and with James Okonkwo and Mohamed Wague set to return, it would be hard to believe another big would want to come if Bell is still here, giving that newcomer three others to compete with for playing time.
