Former Tennessee star sets WNBA record in debut

Former Tennessee star Candace Parker scored 34 points in her WNBA debut Saturday, setting the record for the most points by a player in their first game in the WNBA. The previous record was 25 by Cynthia Cooper in 1997. Parker, who led Tennessee to consecutive NCAA championships, also had 12 rebounds, eight assists, two steals, and one block in her debut. She led the Los Angeles Sparks past the defending champion Phoenix Mercury, 99-94. Straight balla!

Her brother is one of the 50 Greatest Contributors in Euroleague history, and an excellent three-point shooter, but it looks like another Reggie and Cheryl Miller situation. The only thing is that Cheryl didn't get a chance to play professionally, although any time I see her on TNT, I marvel at how she measures up to the current players. ;-)

She is a very good player, but there is one caveat: she is marrying an alien. :-D

what alien might that be?

Erm, okay, that was supposed to be a joke. However, to answer your question (and to be slightly alliterative), it's quite obvious that Mr. Williams has familiar foreign facial features. Perhaps they are not as prominent as those of Popeye Jones, but they're still there. ;-)

congrats to cp for making a record-GO SPARKS
