Tennesee's Candace Parker named women's college basketball player of the year
The Associated Press named Tennesee junior Candace Parker the women's college basketball player of the year. Parker has led Tennesee to the Final Four this season while averaging 21.6 points and 8.3 rebounds. In the Elite Eight, she scored 26 points against Texas A&M, despite dislocating her shoulder twice. Parker received 40 of the 50 votes from the national media panel.
