NO WAY. I'm sorry but until OSU can prove it can beat an SEC opponent or an elite team outside of Michigan or a weak Texas team than I am not buying. OSU has been embarrased and exposed the last 2 NC games. If they can beat USC then i'll start beliving. Georgia #1 for now...

Listen to yourself....................." They have been embarrased and exposed in the last 2 NC games".

Yes we have lost those 2 games there..................but we are in contention every yr. Regardless of you not liking the Buckeyes there, they do belong in the conversation. Last yr everyone moved over again , and again for both the Buckeyes and the Tigers to play in that game. The yr before with Florida, the Buckeyes played 3 number 2 ranked teams in the country that yr. ( Texas, Michigan, Florida). Losing of course, the important one, and winning @ Texas and beating Michigan .

Pre-season rankings don't mean squat................look at last yr. The dominoes feel every week it seemed. The season has to play out. The rankings show the roster strenghth, experiance, and so on..................thats it. So I am not putting a whole lot of stock into the pre-season rankings.

OSU will always lose in a National Championship Game. Plus Pre-Season means nothing.

Umm The Buckeyes have 7...........

and they didn't start recording wins and losses in National Title games in 2006.

you mean nothing- partner...! Ohio State Football is Everything, get used to it...

yeah pre rankings dont mean much and Osu is always in contention and i dont like them by any means but they field a good team most years and the thing that OSU struggles with in the NC games is they play a team from the SEC and both teams play a diffrent style so i dont think OSU sees much of that style of play during the year. THe Gators should be ranked higher though Tebow is an ANimal

nice to see someone in here who actually thinks before they open their mouth... you make a very good point, i only hope others could follow in suite.

I am a die-hard GEORGIA fan!!! But i do have to agree with Flabuckeye, this is just a pre-season ranking. I'll come back and check this half way through the season, but i do believe GEORGIA and OSU will both sitll be in the top 5.

I dont dislike Ohio State at all. I just feel that they get by easy in a very weak Big-10. I feel any second rate SEC Big 12 or PAC-10 team could easily come out of the big 10 with 0-2 losses and make a major bowl. That is why Ohio state HAS to play a tougher non-league schdule and they have stepped up in recent years with TEXAS and USC. If they can beat USC they they belong but if they get beat by another top program handaly then they dont belong at all.

DeadRed..............

So your basically saying Ohio State has to win every single game from here on out ,for the rest of thier existance, to belong in the top rankings with the rest of the country??? I mean that's basically what you implied in your last sentence.

Does the Michigan thumping of an SEC powerhouse in the Outback Bowl hold wieght for the Big 10???

I mean wasn't that game .......IN FLORIDA................I'm just wondering .

I wouldn't call it a Thumping, But Overall Much Respect to Michigan, I hate to sayit but i was kind of happy for them . Ohio State has to get over that hump of not winning the Big Game. Yea they won with Troy Smith but how soon do people forget..... Mentally the SEC has got everyone on pins and needles(Just because of the past three years, and I love it) So for OS to be #1 you might have to win everygame,Not everygame for the rest of existance but just when the big game is on Tap, SHOW YO BUT and win that game. Then comes Respect.

The SEC deserves thiers.......no question. And yes some of our demise has been to our handling our buiseness on the Big stage ( last 2 title games). But to say we don't deserve any respect at all is totally ludacris. Yes , a win in Pasadena on Sept. 13th will show some people ( not all ) that the Buckeyes won't cave everytime. Even if the Buckeyes beat USC.........there will be naysayers still.

Like any other team this yr contending.........we have to handle our buiseness..................( especially our Bowl ).

You got it... Good Luck...

its like with all good teams you will have haters true fans and bandwagon jumpers what can you do other than rep your team Go Gators

the power rankings will get a real good shakeup when OSU and USC hook up. that will ruin someone's party.

deadred give me a break osu has one of the top teams year in and year out and too say a second rate team from any conference can beat them on a regular basis you are tripping.

If Ohio State can win at USC and at least 10 of their other games, they belong at the national championship game. If they lose to USC or lose two others along the way, then we'll send someone else. I don't see any point in arguing about it now.
