He fell against the care and got that shiner, or so they say. Some cop probably walloped him. Once you're caught, just give it up. He just made the situation worse.

I can almost guarantee what the police report is going to say:

"I identified myself to the subject and made the subject aware of his Miranda rights. Subject looked visibly intoxicated and irritated. Subject turned toward myself and (2nd officer's name) in a combative manner. Subject ignored and refused several verbal orders to raise his hands. The situation was tense, uncertain, and rapidly evolving. Upon finally becoming compliant, I attempted to place handcuffs upon the subject, to which he became aggressively assaultive, causing myself and Officer (insert officer's name) to attempt to subdue the subject. It was at this time that the subject forced himself forward, causing him to strike the hood of the vehicle with his face. Subject was placed in handcuffs and transported to (station name) without further incident and refused any medical treatment. End of report."
