How fast can you run the 40-yard dash?

I'm pretty sure I could do 4.50, assuming it's measured in days, not seconds. These guys from USC do it a whole lot faster. Up-close-and-personal video from USC's Pro Day: Keith Rivers, Sedrick Ellis, Thomas Williams, Chauncey Washington, Sam Baker and Terrell Thomas.

Great footage, hella jealous....! So it looks like there are a few different "sparq-timers" how are they all involved?

Good question. There were three timers that I could see: one at the 10-yard line, another at the 20, and of course one at 40 yards.

Below is a picture of the starting line. Prospects had to keep their hands entirely behind the white tape. They would often put one hand down immediately behind the tape and the other hand in front of the tape, and then raise up their hand and place it behind them shortly before starting the run. I think Keith Rivers does that in the video above. Other guys did it, too.

Thanks for the info, I'm glad someone in the yard actually has a foot in the door, other than an athlete. Dewey your the man...keep bringing us the goods bro.

Thanks, Benny. There is more footage in queue from USC's Pro Day, including a Sedrick Ellis highlights reel, which I'll post today... just as soon as I get some coffee and finish my a.m. tasks.

PS: Glad to see you're a Troy Smith fan. I have a good feeling about that guy's future in the NFL.

Thanx, I hope T. Smith has a good future. He has the heart and a great work ethic, it's no secret how Ohio State QB's have faired in the NFL....

Finish line.

Nice article here, thanks for sharing. I'm pretty sure I can run a 8.8 40...

It's mildly amusing that a 300-pound man likely runs a 40 faster than me.

Dude, it's crazy now, i dont understand how these guys get so fast.

Unlike us, these guys have the nations best to prepare for a 40......

i run a 5.2 40

sure you do... And I have a 55" vertical

lol

no bull i ran at that at a dmac camp that is slow to me

I would like to see which high school player can run the fastest 40 yard dash?

The fastest high school 40 times in the class of '09 so far are either Damien Thigpen out of Manassas, Virginia - Stonewall Jackson High School or Nick Schotts out of Torrance, California – South Torrance High School; both run in the low 4.3's and both play cornerback.

i rune a 4.8 and im in 8th grade!!!!
