Maryland Gets Tate

Maryland picks up Kenny Tate, a four-star receiver out of DeMatha. He ended a long recruiting process with a very solid commitment on Washington Post Live.

I think he was extremely nervous to be on TV - he was stammering and stuttering when he announced his decision, but he warmed up a little as the interview went on. "I will be attending Maryland University ... As soon as I sign those papers, I'll be a Maryland Terrapin."

It seemed like the deciding factors were location, the opportunity to work with a retooled offense, and just feeling like fitting in. Another bonus was that his parents liked Maryland.

Josh Barr has the WP story: http://blog.washingtonpost.com/recruitinginsider/2008/01/tate_says_maryland_felt _like_t.html

Sweeeett!! Another in a long line of Stags to play for the Terps recently (Josh Wilson, Denard Wilson, Tony O, Edwin Williams, etc), and Kenny might be the best of the bunch. Plus we finally won a recruiting battle with Illinois.

Awesome, it's good to see the Terps representing in the DC area. If we could only keep the best players in DC and Bmore every year, we'd have an unbelievable team.
