Nobody really talks about Armanti Edwards but he is a great college football player. Through 2 years he has lead the biggest upset this decade and has won 2 national championships. Can it get much better than that?

can't think of any other player that did that. armanti is definately in "Beast Mode"

there's no doubt he's a great player...but do you honestly think he will get enough national exposure on a weekly basis to really contend for the heisman? you'd like to think so, but i'm afraid that heisman voters aren't always willing to "go that extra yard" -- (no pun intended) to make sure college football's "best" player wins the award (uh huh, eric crouch).

sure, in principle, he has a "shot" at winning the award, but i just think division one (bowl championship ultra division...whatever the hell they call it...it's still d 1 to me) players play against superior competition, and are therefore more deserving of the award. sure, app. state could probably compete at a very high level at the d1 level...but they're not...so, they won't get the respect they're looking for until the step up and join the "big boys" of "major" college football.

you've forgotten the guy who will probably win the award next season -- chris "beanie" wells. compare his stats this season as a sophomore to that of darren mcfadden's, and they're very close.

mcfadden - 1725 yds. rushing, 15 rushing TD's, 5.7 yards a carry
wells - 1463 yds. rushing, 14 rushing TD's, 5.8 yards a carry (and almost 50 fewer carries...which if you take his avg. per rush #'s, to equal the 304 carries of mcfadden, and that would put his yardage almost dead even with mcfadden's.)

yes, beanie is an outstanding player and has a great shot at winning the heisman. if armanti has a season like he did this year, or even better, he better be there b/c he is a top 10 player in all divisions of college football. app. st. has gotten some exposure and that should build as armanti builds into this incredible player he already is. i mean if the voters ignore something like this: as a QB, rushing for 313 yards and 3 TD's and passing for 182 yards and 4 more TD's in ONE GAME, than the voters should be fired and never hired for that job again b/c armanti is outstanding.

Beanie is a beast.

I don't agree!
1. Tim Tebow
2. Pat White
3. Beanie Wells
4. Kevin Smith

you need to have Armanti on the list, as well as Crabtree. I explain Armanti in an earlier comment, as for Crabtree: 125 catches, 1,861 yards receiving, and 21 TD's as a FRESHMAN. he was the best receiver in the country by far and he is a freshman. just think about that. Armanti is still the beast, though.

1.Tim Tebow
2.Kevin Smith
3. Michael Crabtree
4. Pat White

This is all if Darren Goes pro of course...

darren is definately going pro, it would be stupid to come back b/c of injury risk and draft stock.

you guys have to acknowledge what Armanti has done in his first 2 seasons as a freshman and sophomore. he has won to national titles, is an threat in both the running and passing game, is a winner, and is a tremendous athlete. there should be no doubt that he should be at the heisman ceremony next december and if he has a slightly better season than he had this year, theres no doubt he should win it.

Armanti played one real team this year. Giving him the Heisman would be like giving the Cy Young to a minor league pitcher.

i don't deny what armanti has done in his 1st two seasons...but what you have to understand is...what he does on a yearly basis at the 1-AA level will never compare with what guys are doing on the 1-A level. his stats will always look "inferior" because he's doing it on the 1-AA level.

let's take a look at app. state's opponents this season:
1 division 1 team...sure, an upset for the ages @ michigan...believe me, very very impressive. after that, however, lenoir-rhein a division II team, northern arizona (6-5), wofford (9-4), elon (7-4), gardner-webb (5-6), ga southern (7-4), furman (6-5), the citadel (7-4), western carolina (1-10), chatt. (2-9)...then, the playoffs. not exactly like putting up big numbers against teams in the SEC every week. that's just how the voters are going to see it. sure, the numbers will look "sexy", but i guarantee they will claim inferior competition and give it to someone else.

p.s.- crabtree is a beast, and should be in the heisman top 5 list for '08 for everyone. and something else...you got the stats wrong for your boy -- at no point in his 2 seasons has he had a game like you listed, rushing for over 300 yards, passing for nearly 200 and combining on 7 TD's in one game. the most TD's in one game he's ever scored is 5 -- once against coastal carolina (9-3) and once against western carolina (1-10)..so, don't go overinflating his legend too much.

Armanti Edwards vs Richmond 12/7/07:

Passing - 14/16, 182 yds, 3 TD's
Rushing - 313 yds. 4 TD's

To me, even more impressive was the fact that he did not turn the ball over in the entire playoffs.

He should be in the Heisman watch for next year, but even as an App St. homer, he won't make it because of the reasons above. Just not enough exposure.

guys where's felix jones?

He might be in the NFL. He is rated as a first round pick. Petrino's first job is gettting Felix to stay. if he does, Felix will be right up there with Tebow.

Great observation schmidtydogg. We expect Felix Jones to enter the April draft and be playing in the NFL next season. Our list will be updated if He chooses to stay for his senior season.

believe me I know he should and most likely will go pro, but with the new coach you never know what his mother might want. Then you have Felix who will most likely be a top 15 pick if he goes in the draft!!!

Watch out for one Mr. Ryan Perriloux from the red stick. If he can stay out of trouble, LSU will be playing for the National Championship (again) and Perriloux will be in NY graciously accepting the Heisman.

Good call on Perriloux. He has a lot to prove before he makes the list though.

perriloux's talented, but he's not even on my "radar" for heisman in '08...you have to be a starter for that. when he takes the job and does well on a consistent basis -- which he hasn't shown he can do yet -- he will get his due attention. but, until then, he's way, way down the list for '08 heisman.

Watch out for the sleeper at OU.....Sam Bradford. Crabtree may go pro. I don't see him staying at Tech. Too much money going to be thrown his way. He's definitely a high first round picl

Crabtree is only a freshman

yeah, crabtree, unless he wants to go the maurice clarett direction and sue...won't be leaving t tech anytime in the near future. unless he falls into the larry fitzgerald category and is 3 years removed from hs graduation.

I hear he may file for hardship.

How about Tyler Graunke? He put some big numbers when Colt Brennan was out.

Could he just be another product of the June Jones pass-happy system? Similar to Texas Tech in lot of ways. Not many QB's out of Tech get into the Heisman running or make it in the pro ranks. Harrell might get some mention next year, but they tend to lost to superior talent most of the time.

1. Tim Tebow- Returning Heisman winner has to be there until he proves otherwise.

2. Beanie Wells- For those that haven't seen him have fun. You will not see a better stiff arm and his speed is amazing for a big back. Factor in the team returning all their starters on offense except one lineman and an early season match up vs USC and he could be in for a huge year.

3. Kevin Smith- His numbers speak for themselves. HE is one of those smaller school guys so that works against him but you can't deny the numbers!!

4. Michael Crabtree- Yes he possibly is a product of his system but the numbers he put up as a Freshman were nuts and TT won't be changing their offensive plan anytime in the near future. Plaing in a BCS conference he will see his fair share of good matchups again.

Have yall guys forgot about knowshawn moreno? He would have been a top contender if he started from game 1 also UGA would have been playing in the national championship game b/c they would have beaten south carolina but i dont think he would have been no hope for tennessee.
And dont forget about Mathew Stafford if A.J. Green is going to be as good as all the hype he might just help Stafford win the heisman

Everyone disses Armanti due to inferior competition. Keep in mind that he plays WITH a team with the same recruiting disadvantages as his opponents. He doesn't have the support of the same caliber linemen and receivers that Tebow and others get to enjoy. In other words, put him behind the center on teams like West Virginia, Va Tech, Oregon or even LSU and eats Tebow's lunch and takes his lunch money to boot.

I believe the winner will be pat white, edging out tebow

TIMMY TEBOW IS A HUGE HOTTY!!!!! I WOULD LOVE TO !@#$ ALL OVER HIS !@#$% AND THEN WIPE MY !#@$@% IN HIS !@#$%%, WHILE HE !!@#$%% ME OFF!!!!!!!!!!!

Tebow has game, we have seen it, as does Crabtree and Moreno but under the microscope things become a bit clearer. Armanti Edwards has proven even as a freshman and a sophomore he can do things Tebow, Crabtree and Moreno only wish they could do--look at the numbers-equal or better--so what about the "so called...competition." Now, under the umbrella of D1, no matter if it is BCS or FCS, everyone needs to recognize this quarterback at App State is the real deal. Explain why no D1 program will play App State, is Armanti going to do it by himself. Plese don't give the schpeal about schedules already being made up and set in stone--we got the LSU game with a push and a tug. At least LSU "Manned Up" enough to say O.K.. Armanti Edwards is a piece to the puzzle. Outside of Michigan last year, (and we saw what happened there), LSU has everything to lose and nothing to gain as does everyone D1-BCS program, blah-blah-blah. Ask Jerry Moore he would rather play 3 or 4 "D1" schools each year. The hits are as punishing, the coaching may drop off-whatever?, in some cases the talent on the field may drop off-whatever and definitely the amount of scholarships issued from D1 to D1AA plays a role, right? In any case, why run if you are a D1 program, fire it up and get after us and Armanti. Shut us down. Face the music--play App. All the haters or disbelievers need to realize it is a team not just one guy. Armanti is the gas that runs the engine and if it was just that bad, he would falter too, but he hasn't and you know what, he is a Bad Ass. It is fun to whip a team that is supposed to beat you and that is what App did-Ha. Hell, App destroyed the BCS out of the gate last year and OSU fans were ecstatic. Tressel who knows Moore from coaching at Youngstown State, I'm sure realizes--it is in his best interest to avoid any and every chance of playing App with the concept of--too much to lose, especially with Armanti at the helm. The fact is, the talent is there and allegiances and alliances are draw in the sand from birth. Be careful drawing your line in the sand because your side may be quicksand. Recognition is what many of you are closing your eyes too. First is the team, then maybe it is the individual. Fortunately, us App State fans have Armanti Edwards running the show and since we have had to play our way to a National stage, that ought to be enough to get you to respect the MAN who, with the help of his team, will shock the world again. The BCS still doesn't have a playoff. The winner of an FCS playoff plays 3 more games than any "considered D1 National Champion" program--respect it! Don't bring up that CRAP about lessening the impact of a schedule, intensity, talent or even scholarships when you do it from the boiler room. App State has done the unthinkable by finding the Diamonds in the rough, brilliant coaching and paying their dues. We have arrived and if you are an LSU fan, get ready for the Hillbilly Redneck pounding that is coming. We know you are thinking about us, we're coming and you're well aware of what we can do. Watching all the tape in the world won't help. Yeah, we will take our licks and it will be a punishing game, but you getting handled the first game of the season will not bode well for your SEC schedule that ensues. The anticipation, the lights, ESPN, the fans, remember App has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Les will be over prepared as will the team. Drink the pepto, and think about the fact we have a quarterback! Time to recognize!
Aug. 30th comes quick!

There are obviously no takers on my comments earlier. So,...I reside in the fact that my statements were warranted. Also, to the LSU fans and team, we have a special gift for you as an added surprise, his name, and you will know him when everything is said and done, is Roderick Chisolm. Can't wait until you figure out who he is!
Do your homework........Smooch
