Transfer portal season is about to get underway and a ton of players around the country are already declaring their intentions to explore their options elsewhere. Florida State has been heavily active in the portal over the last couple of years but the program will probably only be searching for five to six additions in this cycle when the fun gets started on Monday, December 4.

With one week remaining until he can make things official, former Florida State and current Kansas State running back Treshaun Ward announced that he plans to transfer for the second time in less than a year. During his one season with the Wildcats, he finished with a career-high 124 carries for 643 yards and five touchdowns on the ground while catching 17 passes for 129 yards and two scores through the air.

Despite his production, Ward still didn't receive the playing time that he was searching for when he transferred to Kansas State over the offseason. He dealt with injuries earlier in the year and ended up playing second fiddle to DJ Giddens (195 carries, 1,075 yards, 9 TDs). Ward recorded a season-high 118 yards on 15 carries in a win over Texas Tech in October.

The Florida native spent the first four years of his collegiate career at Florida State prior to transferring last January. His decision came despite Ward leading the Seminoles in rushing in the win over Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl with 10 carries for 81 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Ward appeared in 26 games, with 6 starts, over four seasons with the Seminoles after originally joining the program as a walk-on. He totaled 188 rushes for 1,241 yards with 12 touchdowns on the ground while adding 28 catches for 210 yards and another score.

With one season of eligibility remaining, it's expected that he'll be looking for a landing spot where he can earn significant playing time.

Even if Trey Benson declares for the NFL, Florida State is projected to return redshirt senior Lawrance Toafili, redshirt senior Caziah Holmes, redshirt junior CJ Campbell, redshirt sophomore Rodney Hill, and true freshman Samuel Singleton while adding four-star Kam Davis and four-star Micahi Danzy in 2024.
