While the Wisconsin Badgers took the field today against the No. 3 ranked Ohio State  and had their own problems to deal with, so did a former quarterback in Graham Mertz. The Florida Gators met the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs, and there were plenty of reactions to how the former Wisconsin Badgers QB performed, and the overall game that the Gators had.

Some called Graham Mertz’s stats empty, others blamed other parts of the Gators, and others still praised Mertz for his efforts against the juggernaut Georgia Bulldogs.

Former Wisconsin Badgers QB’s Performance

Before we get to the social media reactions, it’s important to see just how the former Wisconsin Badgers QB performed under center this week. Mertz went 25 for 34 through the air with 230 yards and two touchdowns. He also punched one into the end zone rushing, in what seemed to be Mertz having to take matters into his own hands during this game as the O-line let him down.

The game plan was clearly to deceive and pass by the Gators, as there was a clear mismatch with the offensive line and defense of the Bulldogs. Unfortunately for the Gators, the Bulldogs were able to figure out a couple of trick plays and held the Gators down as they’ve done to so many teams this season.

The start to the game was promising, with the former Wisconsin Badgers QB punching one through on the opening drive, but unfortunately, Graham Mertz and the Gators would only gain one yard on their next 18 plays, a credit to the Bulldogs defense. All-in-all, the Gators ended up with four sacks against them, showing how a decent quarterback isn’t everything in football.
