Andrew Garfield advocates for Tom Holland to host Oscars: 'He would be absolutely brilliant'

Andrew Garfield already got Tom Holland's back in "Spider-Man: No Way Home," but their bond extends beyond the fact that they are two of three people — shout-out Tobey Maguire — to have played Peter Parker on the big screen.

"I think Tom is so charismatic and such an incredible performer and actor, and I think he'd be an incredible Oscars host," Garfield told People shortly after receiving his Screen Actors Guild Awards nomination for Netflix's "Tick, Tick... Boom!" on Wednesday morning. "I think he would be absolutely brilliant."

Garfield's brilliance has been on full display of late. The 38-year-old actor earned the Golden Globe on Sunday night for best actor in a motion picture, musical or comedy, for his portrayal of the late "Rent" creator Jonathan Larson in "Tick, Tick."

"I just have to take them one at a time, I think, and appreciate that I’m alive and breathing and that I get to act," Garfield told TheWrap, also Wednesday. "I’m trying my best to be present for it and really enjoy the moment and feel the energy of it—and to ask myself, 'What do I want to do with this energy?'"

He added: "It would be wonderful if I could share this in a room with my castmates and friends and family. I mean, I’d love to go bowling tonight and get an In-N-Out burger to celebrate, but we have to accept where we are and put safety first."

Garfield mentioning Holland as the ideal host for the 94th Academy Awards comes one day after ABC announced that the Oscars will have a host for the first time in three years (h/t Variety). Jimmy Kimmel is the most recent host, serving in the role in 2017 and '18.

The 2022 Oscars is scheduled for March 27. Nominees will be unveiled Feb. 8.
