Kristin Davis will let her kids watch 'Sex and the City': 'I'm gonna use it as a teaching tool'

Charlotte York is an extremely plugged-in parent on And Just Like That..., HBO Max's limited series revival of Sex and the City , and Kristin Davis is sort of taking some direction from her iconic character.

Davis recently stopped by The Kelly Clarkson Show , where she was asked how she will handle it when her children are old enough to watch Sex and the City:

"I've had different thoughts about it at different times," the one-time Emmy nominee said. "One time, Gemma and I were on a plane—before Wilson came—and she was like, 'Mommy, the person in front of you, their monitor, that girl looks like you.' And I was like, 'That is me.' And I was like, 'What [episode] are they watching? What's gonna happen? What am I gonna do?!' It was fine. It was the first [SATC] movie. It wasn't anything bad. But she was young, so it was a little scary."

"Now that she's older, and now that she's getting exposed from her friends to all this stuff, even though I'm controlling—I mean, she knows about it," Davis continued with Clarkson, speaking of Gemma. "We haven't gone into it, but I'm thinking I'm gonna use [SATC] as a teaching tool. I don't want her to feel embarrassed. I want her to talk to me. I'm a single mom. It's super important. ... Sex and the City is kind of a good educational-type thing—for later."

Davis adopted Gemma in 2011, and then adopted Wilson in 2018—a process that she opened up about on Red Table Talk in 2019.

Sex and the City originally aired from 1998 to 2004. Two feature-length films followed in 2008 and '10, and AJLT premiered on HBO Max on Dec. 9. Davis has starred as Charlotte for the duration of the franchise.
