Producer confirms 'Girls Trip 2' is 'underway': 'Can't we all use a post-pandemic trip?'

Who's up for another round?

Will Packer served as a producer on the 2017 comedy Girls Trip, and while visiting with Good Morning America about producing the 2022 Oscars, Packer revealed that Girls Trip 2 will be a thing.

"Can't we all use a post-pandemic trip, my friend?" Packer said. "I think that the time is actually right, and this is something that I will tell you and break right now at GMA: the 'Girls Trip 2' sequel, we are underway. We are absolutely in the stages. The ladies are in. I just talked to the director."

He added: "Now it's just about what kind of trip do we take, right? Post-pandemic with all our favorite crazy ladies, what do we do with them? That's what we got to figure out."

Directed by Malcolm D. Lee, Girls Trip starred Queen Latifah, Regina Hall, Tiffany Haddish and Jada Pinkett Smith as lifelong best friends—the "Flossy Posse"—who haven't seen each other in five years and decide to travel together to the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. Their vastly differing adult lives had caused them to drift apart, but the wild vacation rekindles their strong bond.

Larenz Tate and Mike Colter also starred.

Girls Trip earned awards for outstanding motion picture and outstanding supporting actress (Haddish) at the NAACP Image Awards as well as an MTV Movie & TV Award for best comedic performance (Haddish).
