About Yardbarker

Yardbarker is your homepage for sports news, analysis and commentary.

Across the internet, hundreds of thousands of sports articles are written every day on your favorite sports, teams and players, but only a small fraction of these articles are worthy of your time. Yardbarker editors and algorithms promote the most interesting and entertaining articles from around the web on the stories in sports that you care most about.

We provide real-time coverage of the top stories in sports, always with additional angles and voices that you won’t get from traditional sports media. And, we provide more depth and breadth of reliable team-specific coverage than is available on any other website.

Our Story

Yardbarker was founded in 2006 by four lifelong sports fans who were bored with traditional sports media and wanted to create a site where sports fans could write and discuss sports with other fans, bloggers, and professional athletes. Over time, Yardbarker has grown and evolved, and is currently the leading digital portal for sports news and information. In addition to our own in-house writing team, we work with hundreds of independent sports publishers, both large and small. We provide a platform where high quality independent voices can efficiently reach the general sports audience, and where fans of specific sports and teams can find a depth of coverage that is unavailable via traditional sports media. We endeavour to provide the broadest and deepest coverage of the sports world available anywhere.

Yardbarker distributes content on Yardbarker.com, social media platforms, and via third party syndication partners such as MSN.com. Yardbarker also curates and distributes several sports newsletters, including our flagship product The Morning Bark, which is one of the most read and most popular sports newsletters available anywhere.

In 2010, Yardbarker was acquired by FOX Sports. In 2017, Yardbarker was spun out from FOX, and was sold to YB Media, LLC (an independent company operated by members of Yardbarker’s original founding team). In 2021, Yardbarker was sold to Playmaker Capital and in 2024, Playmaker Capital was acquired by Better Collective.

Yardbarker is now fully owned by Better Collective.
