Can the Nease Panthers beat Pace tomorrow?
Tomorrow, the Nease Panthers face off against the Pace Patriots at 7:30 at Nease High School. Nease is 12-1 and Pace is 13-0. This game will be very competitive as two of the premier teams in Florida go at it. This is the Florida 4A State Semifinal and the winner goes to the State Championship next Saturday in Orlando to play the winner of the Armwood-Washington game.
Pace is a team that is very similar to the Panthers. They have no real star and run the spread offense, which the Panthers have in common. With Nease's great ability to scout teams well, this shouldn't be a tough matchup for them, right? Wrong. Though Nease's defense will be stout again, just as always, they will play a base defense against the spread offense of Pace, which the Panthers are very good at. What the problem is though, is that Nease might be too overconfident against this offense because they know that they can defend it well, but haven't been up against it all season. thaey have faced so many types of offenses and shut them down that they might have a problem adjusting to the offense their own team runs. This will be one of the main concerns for me at the game tomorrow, along with how Nease's offense performs. During the entire regular season, the offense could not be stopped, but during the playoffs, they have been out of sync a little bit. They haven't put up the points they did during the regular season. My last point is that I know Nease is very good because they play as a team. Pace, though, is a similar type of team and that could challenge the Panthers a little bit. I think, though, that Nease will come up big again with great defense and win with a final score of 24-10 and then go on to their third State Championship in three years. Go Panthers!
