Back in Charm City

What's good everybody? I hope the weekend went well, it seemed like it flew by.

I flew from L.A. into Philly on Saturday afternoon for an autograph signing in Mount Laurel NJ on Sunday afternoon which was a lot of fun. It was definitely successful, and the kids I got to meet were definitely entertaining. I still think it's incredible that we as lacrosse players can do events like this and people will actually show up to meet us, pick our brains about the sport, and grab an autograph, I definitely never saw all of it coming.

I've been getting a lot of questions recently about how fast I can run a mile, or how long do I run for in order to prepare for the season. My strength and conditioning coach at Hokpin's, Coach Jay, always told us it didn't make much sense to simply run for 3 miles to prepare for our sport. It's not the same type of running that I'll be doing as a Midfielder in the game of lacrosse. I'll never just be running at a certain pace for 20 minutes. I do A LOT of pick up basketball to simulate getting up and down the lacrosse field. For me, it's great training because I'm always trying to get to the hoop, and trying to beat my defender in basketball to the rim is similar to trying to dodge my defender on the lacrosse field, so that's perfect for me. I do a lot of 300 yard shuttle runs as well, along with 50 yard sprints. I try to stay on the lacrosse field as much as possible during a game. There can be a run where I go down and play defense, then go play offense, then play defense again, then push transition, then come off the field. So, I've got to do as much as I possibly can to train my body for those type of runs. So any type of shuttle run, suicide run, sprint work you can do is definitely the way to go, rather then 3 and 4 mile runs.

I got a look at the Nike SPARQ commercial that airs Wednesday March 12th (my birthday son!), and me and Ryan Powell made it into the commercial! We're not in it for long, but it's definitely exciting for lacrosse layers to even be in the same commercial as Steve Nash, LT, Kevin Durant and more. It will air during American Idol so make sure to check that out! There are a few different versions I think, both RP and I are in the longer one. Once it airs I can finally put up the behind the scenes footage I filmed when we did the shoot a while ago.

Oh yeah, quick question. So on my flight I was listening to the two dudes behind me talk and they had a nice little debate going. Who is the funniest comedian of our generation? Clearly there have been some GREAT comedians in the past Richard Prior, Robin Williams, Eddie Murphy and more, but I don't know man, there are so many funny dudes right now ya know (all time goes to Richard Prior in my opinion by the way)? Depends on the type of humor your in to to. I think Mike Epp's steals every movie he's in because that cat is so stupid and hilarious, from Next Friday to Welcome Home Rosco Jenkin's. However as far as stand up goes, I'd have to go with Dave Chappelle or Kat Williams. What do you guys think?

Well, I need to get some work done and go get a work out in, but I'll check in after Wednesday and see what you all think of the new Nike SPARQ commercial.

Have a great week.

Happy Birthday, Kyle. I'm going to agree with you on Pryor for All-time. What about Chris Rock? The man makes terrible movie after terrible movie, but his standup is always great.

Chris Rock is hilarious. He may have single handedly gotten Brett and I through the drive, we had a few of his cd's playing on repeat. And come on man, give him a break on his movies, you know some of those joints are funny! I think I love my wife? When he was the voice in Dr. Dolittle? Not great movies, but funny.

Daaaaamn, Gina!

Don't forget Martin Lawrence. That dude is classic.

I will NEVER leave Martin out of the discussion, dude is hysterical. If you haven't seen Nothing to Lose, rent it ASAP.

my birthday was over the weekend and it flew by for me 2! happy birthday kyle. and i think kat williams is pretty hilarious. lol

I appreciate it, and yup, Kat is the man right now.

Glad to see you like Weezy, KH. The Sky's the Limit

Yessir. Nobody's doing it like him right now.

My vote on stand-up alone is for Chappelle. "Sprinkle some crack on him!"

For movies I think it's gotta be Martin or Will Ferrell. I was thinking the other day about all the funny movies he's in, from Bad Boys to Blue Streak. Ferrell is less consistent, but when he's on (Old School, Anchorman) he's really on.

True...For some reason I've never been a Ferrell fan, but there's no denying how funny he was in Old School and Anchorman, and I actually thought Elf was hysterical as well. Good call. As for Chappelle's stand up, I watched that last night, so funny.

They made Elf look like a children's movie, when it was more like a PG-13 Bad Santa.

Bernie Mac's standup is really good too, but I think you had to grow up somewhere rural and black for a lot of it to really hit home.

Enjoy Hermosa Beach but check out Santa Monica and Manhattan beach for some good times too. Definitely gotta drive up HWY 1 when you get the chance.

Planning the drive in about a month, we'll see how it goes considering I hate driving, but I've heard it's worth doing. One of my favorite shoe stores in in Manhattan beach actually, so I've been down there a fair amount. Got to check out Santa Monica!

Happy B-lated B-Day Kyle!!! You know my is coming up in on the 24th? I spoke Wanda yesterday or was it Tuesday in regard to Ginnie's operation. She had back surgery but is doing well. You know mommy she will not let anything keep her down or her mouth closed :)!! Anyway hope all is well with you and hope you are getting adjusted to the West Coast. Luv 2 you and be safe!!!

Cuz Tiffany From NC

Cuz! What's good? Of course I know your the 24th, get it together! I've got to pack, but I'l give you a call later today. Love and miss you and I'll holler.

Hey Kyle, happy birthday! Is it hard for you being and STX guy all year round to playing in the MLL where they only let you use warrior and brine equipment?

Thanks man, I appreciate it. It definitely gets a bit frustrating with out a doubt having my own equipment line with STX and not being able to wear it when I play professionally, but those are the rules man, nothing I can do about it ya know? I try to play in as many tournaments as possible during the year so I can wear it.

As for "Who is the funniest comedian of our generation?" question, how did you misspell Pryor's name?? Shame on you Mr. Harrison!! Anyhow, I do not think you can put Richard PrYor, Redd Foxx, Flip Wilson and other back-in-the-day comics in the same sentence. Sorry. And I guess you know who I picked, yes? I will say that Katt is the best today, even though he's been in it for 10+ years. The pimp imagery gets old but then Prince kept A image up for years too... sooooooooo... Prince as well all know is a multi-talented artist - whom Katt seems to have picked up some characteristics from. KW has a comedy/rap album which probably puts him out there a wee bit further than some of the other comics besides Jamie Fox. His rendistion of Pop Life is friggin' AWESOME!! I thought it WAS P for about a half a second - really.
Anyhow, B-more Gyal checks out!!

OOOOOOOOOOPs, I forgot to add two things. Very Happy Belated Birthday wishes. Ok, really, really late wishes. You can check out my brand of HERmor (humor her way) @ http://4LadyDi.blogspot.com
