Week 3/8 Picks

What's going on everyone? Hopefully everyone is having a good Friday. Mine's been ok. (*making the more or less hand gesture) I had to drop $100+ to get the Ebrake on my car repaired so it will pass inspection. With gas prices the way they are, I should just by a bicycle. Problem is it would probably take me at least a couple of hours to get to work . . . and that's if I was riding on the highway! No Thanks.

Anyway, as we review last week, we see that The Jman posted a respectable 4-3. Serious props to Sean Burns for being the only person to pick Fairfield to win. Personally I think he felt comfortable enough with Albany winning that he had a throw away and it happened to work out. To bad Albany didn't. But that's just me thinking out loud.

Reparations:

-I will admit that I have not given Notre Dame the respect they deserve for the way they have persevered through the Yeatman suspension and the countless number of doubters. Sorry about that.

-Congratulations to Fairfield for a great win over the Big Green

Uh . . . yeah . . . that's about it. Denver should have come out of Baltimore with at least 1, if not 2, wins, so that one's not on me. Come guys, let's getting it in gear.

This week's picks:

Virginia v Princeton - I'm so jazzed that this game is the first regular season game to be played on ESPN! It will truly set a high standard for the caliber of play to expect. All things being equal, the Wahoo offense is will over power the Tiger defense. That'll be that. Sorry Ryan.

Edge: Virginia

Penn State vs. Ohio State - I love it, a lacrosse battle between two football powerhouses! The Nittany Lions have struggled to put up big offensive numbers lately. I see the Buckeye's being able to limit the scoring enough to get a win.

Edge: Ohio State

Fairfield vs. Rutgers - I don't think the Cinderella magic from last week will carry over for the Stags. But Rutgers will have to slug it out to get the win.

Edge: Rutgers

Harvard vs. UMass - Like ND, the Minutemen have done a great job getting additional offense in the wake of suspensions. I think that they are on the way back up after a low point last week. They'll need a big win to have momentum for Albany.

Edge: UMass

Duke vs. Loyola - The Blue Devil offense shell shocks a young keeper. What kind of Psychology Dept's do Jesuit colleges have? Cause Hagelin is gonna need some counseling after this one. This is not last year and the upset is not gonna happen.

Edge: Duke

Notre Dame vs. North Carolina - If I were John Haus, I'd have Grant Zimmerman doing nothing but watching the ND/Albany game. Identify what Queener and the Danes did wrong and make sure it doesn't happen to us. Yes, I know what I said before about the Irish and respect and blah blah whatever. The TarHeels offense will not allow themselves to be limited in their production and that is the key to this win. Sorry Foy, bad choice.

Edge: North Carolina

Georgetown vs. Syracuse - The Orange faced the #2 midfield in the NCAA last week. This week they face a midfield that still remains unsure of their role and themselves. Brancaccio will get the pole and I think they will still struggle to find their rhythm with the consistent changes to the lines. The Orange seems to have found their stride after putting up a great offensive show against UVA. Kenny Nims is as advertised.

Edge: Orange

So there you have it. This weekend the wife and I are traveling to Houston to watch the Episcopal Houston vs. Plano game. One of the Trilogy Select kids that I coach in the summer is starting on varsity as a freshman and I promised to come see one of his games.

John Michael Gentry, remember that you heard the name here first.

Have a great weekend everyone. Stay safe and I'll see you on the field.

-The Jman
