This deal makes no sense for the Mariners. Snelling probably would have been a better DH than Vidro, same thing for Broussard, who looks to be dealt now for pitching.

I also think the Indians were getting backed up at first. With Victor's poor D, Garko coming up, and the rise of Kouzmanoff I think they felt getting someone like Choo could help fill a hole (Choo can replace Michaels at a minimum salary). It's a little different now, but Broussard was at his peak trade value and Shapiro pulled the trigger.
