Triple A

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees lost to the Pawtucket Red Sox by a score of 5-3. Starting for Scranton was Heath Phillips and he did not pitch well giving up 4 earned runs on 4 hits in 3 innings for the loss. Replacing Phillips to start the 4rth inning was Scott Strickland and he gave a great relief effort pitching 3 scoreless innings. Following Phillips in the 7th inning was Steven Jackson and he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. Billy Traber got the last out in the top of the ninth inning giving up 1 hit. The hitting stars of the game for Scranton worth mentioning were left-fielder Justin Christian, center fielder Brett Gardner and right-fielder Jason Lane. Christian went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored. Gardner went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi's and Lane went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and a walk.

The Tampa Yankees lost to the Vero Beach Devil Rays by a score of 6-5. Starting for Tampa was Ryan Pope and he gave up 5 runs on 9 hits in 5 innings of work for the loss but 2 of the runs were unearned because of a fielding error by shortstop Luis Nunez. Replacing Pope to start the 6th inning was Kevin Whelan and he gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits in 2 innings. Wilkins Arias pitched the 9th inning giving up 1 hit but all 3 outs were strikeouts. The hitting stars of the game for Tampa worth mentioning were second baseman Damon Sublett, DH James Cooper and right-fielder Josue Calzado. Sublett went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored. Cooper went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi's along with a home run and Calzado went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a home run.

Class A

The Charleston RiverDogs lost to the Asheville Tourists by a score of 9-3. Ouch. Starting for the RiverDogs was Jason Stephens and he gave up 3 earned runs on 7 hits in 6.1 innings of work for the loss. Replacing Stephens was Wilkins De La Rosa and he gave up 5 runs on 3 hits in 2.1 innings but 4 of the runs were unearned because of a fielding error by pitcher Wilkins De La Rosa. Casey Erickson got the last out in the top of the 9th inning but gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits. The hitting stars of the game worth mentioning for the RiverDogs were second baseman Justin Snyder and catcher Jesus Montero. Snyder went 1 for 4 with 1 rbi and Montero went 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored.
