Fantasy Baseball Weekly Wonders Vol. 15
Here is a a look back at the past week in baseball to bring you the surprising stars.
Pitcher Mike Pelfrey- The Mets had high hopes for their Pitching Staff this year. I bet they didn't figure Mike Pelfrey having as many Wins at the All-Star break as Johan Santana. He's been a great surprise for New York's "Other Team". Last week he was magnificent going 2-0 in 15 scoreless Innings with 10 Ks and a 0.60 WHIP. Catcher Max Ramirez - You'd expect Manny Ramirez to hit .429 (6 for 14) for the week, but Max? He added 2 Runs, a Double, a HR, and 5 RBI for Texas. He qualifies at 1B and C in Yahoo Leagues. Corner Infielder Chris Davis- Make it a Texas two-step as 1B Chris Davis joins Max Ramirez in the FBWW list. He went 9 of 28 (.321) with 8 Runs, 2 Doubles, 1 Triple, 3 HRs, 6 RBI, and 2 Walks. Chris hit in all but one game last week. Middle Infielder Mike Fontenot - Chicago's Second Baseman Mike Fontenot was solid last week. He went 6 of 16 (.375) with 5 Runs, 2 Doubles, 2 HRs, 5 RBI, and 5 Walks. Against Cincinnati he was 4 of 6 with 5 Runs, 2 Doubles, 2 HRs, and 4 RBI in two games. Outfielder Matt Joyce - Detroit's Matt Joyce had a spectacular week going 9 of 22 (.409) with 6 Runs, 4 Doubles, 4 HRs, and 6 RBI. Not too shabby for the Rookie Outfielder.
