Jose Reyes Beats Out Derek Jeter as #1 SS In the Game

Battle of the Short Stops in the Majors, and Jose Reyes beats out his cross-town rival, Derek Jeter. Fantasy or not, Reyes right now is all the buzz around the big city. Jeter might be the toast of the town now, but is he ready to pass the torch to the ever energetic youngster Reyes?

Although Jeter is hitting for a higher average, has more homeruns and RBI's, and scored the same amount of runs as Reyes while not hitting from the leadoff spot. I guess this should be a fantasy hint to selecting the Shortstop with the most stolen bases??

Yep. With there stats close its the stolen bases that plays the role of the decider.

In New York, the rule is simple: If you are a champion you qualify for the love. In the absence of a champion, personality takes it. In the absence of personality, stats takes it. If there are two champions, the one with the best personality takes it. When / if Reyes becomes a champion, he will receive love. BUT he will never, I repeat NEVER, take any torch from Jeter where personality is concerned, even as he becomes the better SS. Despite its reputation, New York is a sentimental town and in the minds of New Yorkers, he is still the man.
