I have to think that jealousy and the fact that both Jeter and A-rod play for the New York Yankees had a lot to do with how the other players voted. My guess is that no player who has played with Derek Jeter would consider him overrated.
Alex Rodriguez will some day be considered the best baseball player ever. Overrated? I think not.

Yes. The Yankees thing definately skews a lot of opionion-oriented polls, votes, whatever.

I'd agree with putting Jeter on the list. He always gets praised as the next coming of shortstop Jesus. He's a good player, it's not his fault that everyone sets the expectations so high.

None of the other players on the list are even close to being overrated. Maybe JD Drew but only because of his contract. Nobody ever says his name when they're asked who they would start a franchise around on Baseball Tonight ;X

No way. I have never heard anyone say Jeter is a great shortstop. All I hear and read is that he is overrated. Is it possible to be incessantly referred to as overrated and actually be overrated? By virtue of the overrated moniker it seems the answer is no. He is off the charts as a 1-2 hitter compare his numbers to others at his position). Also, I'd say he's an underrated SS in terms of his fielding. Compare his career fielding to others and he is in the top 15%. How many SS can claim that they are a career .313 hitter and have a .975 fielding %? And a .309 career playoff BA in a ton of games? I don't see him getting a whole lot of respect outside of Yankee fan and actual MLB players, coaches, and managers. Hard to be overrated with a billion guys like you saying he is.

Derek Jeter is not overrated......in fantasy baseball, yes, but if we're talking about real MLB, no chance. The guy is a sure bet for .300, he will give you his all each and every day, pop about 15 HR a year, steal myabe 10 - 15, he's just in the spotlight so often because he is a Yankee and nothing but the best is expected from him, and if he goes out and does something well maybe more people see it.
