Marcus and his brothers are both obvious steroid guys. Marcus's decline started long before he moved to San Diego. Between 02 and 03, his batting average rose 86 points and his slugging percentage rose by 127 points. He was injured in 04. He turned 27 in '05, the age where most players reach their prime. He doubles numbers were somewhat consistent with '03, but he hit 6 fewer homers and his slugging average was down by 65. This was over 20 extra at bats. In '06, the wheels fell off. He slugged under .400 and his batting average dipped to .262. He's had some injuries, but between '03-'07, he's had at least 380 at bats each year. A player shouldn't have such a serious downturn in numbers in his prime years. That and his forearms and biceps were noticeably bigger in the early parts of the 2000's. http://www.baseball-reference.com/g/gilesma01.shtml
