Papelbon Likely Done For Season
Barring a miracle playoff run by the Boston Red Sox, rookie closer Jonathan Papelbon won't pitch again until the 2007 season. Neither Papelbon nor the Boston organization wants the pitcher to rush back into action and with Boston losing ground on the AL East lead and the Wild Card by the day, it appears the stud rookie will be shut down for the year. This injury will also lead to discussions on whether Papelbon will join the starting rotation next year. Last year the Red Sox drafted Craig Hansen out of St. John's to be their closer of the future and he is seeing major league action this year as a setup man. Those of you looking for saves for the stretch run of your fantasy baseball leagues can safely look to Mike Timlin for the remaining three weeks of the season.
