Phillies Week in Retrospect

Back from my vacation to discuss the Phillies news of the past week a bit browner, heavier, and tired. First on the agenda...

1. The All-Star Game: Brad Lidge's unnecessary pitchers, Chase Utley's performance, and Pat Burrell and Cole Hamels snubs.

2. The Joe Blanton Deal: will he help?

3. Ryan Howard: Mendoza Watch is over, now going for double crown (hr and rbi title).

4. Jamie Moyer: re-up him now for 1 year 5 mil, dude is a legend!

5. Happ/Myers/Eaton: what the hell is going on with this JA Happ, Brett Myers, and Adam Eaton clusterf**k?!

6. Nationally Televised Games: the Phils seems to crap the bed when the spotlight is on them.

7. The Stark Truth: The Most Overrated and Underrated Players in Baseball History- #1 overrated player in Phils history... Bobby Abreu.

In "retrospect"...the Phils suck!

Welcome back to the land of disappointment GM. Allow me to address some of the above issues. 1. who gives a s*it about the all-star game? MLB,NHL, and NBA demonstrate their inferiority to the NFL in a lot of ways. Holding a pointless game where the players are "voted" in by means of some kind of convoluted election is one of them. 2. At best Blanton will be another Kendrick, eating up innings and giving the line up a chance. At worst he will be another Tim Worrell and succumb to the pressures of sucking in front of Philly fans. 3. Despite the numbers I'm still waiting for the part where I feel like Ryan Howard matters again. 4. If Moyer doesn't return next year we will have exactly 1.367 actual baseball pitchers in our starting rotation. 5. Happ is throwing under 3.00 including 14 innings of hitless baseball during the time Myers has spent in the minors. By contrast, Myers has gone from AAA to AA to A on a quixotic quest to win another baseball game. You tell me why Myers comes back next week and not Happ. F*CKING CHARLIE MANUEL! In case you missed it, Adam Eaton responded to his bullpen demotion by attacking J.C.Romero in the Philly Daily News. To paraphrase, he said people think he can't pitch because of his record. He compared his three wins to Romero's four and said at least his bullpen stint will allow him to get some cheap victories. Is this guy a genius or what? Oh, and now Hamels hates the team because the lack of run support is costing him wins which in turn will cost him $$$$$$ come arbitration. Great. And even if you CAN wrap your head around all of this there remains a final, enduring puzzle that may never be solved...why the f*ck is Steve Smith still our third base coach?

Boogerking- I love your rants. You really need to stop by my blog more often and let loose on there.

Thanks GM. I will.
