Reds Caravan

Well, I just got back from the reds caravan and wow. It really made me realize the fan base of the surrounding states, not just Ohio. It was a really cool experience for me because I got to see all those people get so excited about the upcoming season, and I also got to know freel and dusty a lot better...I seriously enjoyed every minute of it. The people at the radio stations and malls that we stopped in at were so nice, and it made me remember how fortunate I am to be playing a game as my job. So hopefully if you had a chance to come......It was everything you imagined it to be....and we all hope to see a packed house come opening day.(with me in center field...hopefully haha.)

Nice. Glad to see the city is already making you feel like you are at home.

Today's news puts Johan in the NL. How you feel about facing off against him?

Hey Jay!
I was sick so it didn't get to make it down to the Charleston Town Center for the Caravan, but my dad and brother went and were able to snag me some autographs. You signed the Jay Bruce Dayton Dragons bobblehead and Reds helmet for us. Thanks a lot man, I greatly appreciate it. My dad says he got a laugh out of Freel and when he asked him if he were Farney or Freel today. Anyway, thanks for the autographs man! Can't wait to see you on Opening Day in Cincy!

Reds fans are true fans. Just be nice to see them have something to cheer about.

Hey Jay, when you play my Phils this season take it easy on them. They're going to need all the help they can get now the Johan is a Met.

Jay good luck this year. I hope you make the opening day roster. I have one question though. Would you rather be paid in US currency or Schrute bucks?

Unfortunately I missed it this year. I usually try to attend to get an idea of what players, coaches, etc are like in person. And to exchange a few words with Marty about my UK Wildcats. :) It's normally a blast and I heard this year was no different.
Good luck in the upcoming season. I wish the best for you and my Reds.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the Caravan. I loved seeing you in Louisville last year and will miss seeing you at Louisville Slugger Field (because you will be up at GABP). What will you be doing between now and spring training? Do you step up your workouts or take time off to regroup before Sarasota? Good Luck!

Jay, Why #32? That's a pitchers number.

Jay, great post man. I didn't know the mlb had a program set up like that for rookies...I was wondering if you are aware of the magnitude of media buzz that you and your young gun teammates (Bailey, Cueto, Votto and Volquez) are making around the league? How do you deal with that? I thought I would post one article I read, this sort of stuff pumps me up for opening day! See ya bud. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080127&content_id=2356964&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb

Jay, I was wondering if you start on opening day in center field, which I HOPE that you do...who bats leadoff? Who would be your guess?

I'm glad to hear the Caravan was a big success this year! I was out of town on vacation so I didn't get to any of the stops but it's great that the fans had a good time. I'm looking forward to seeing you in Cincy soon and good luck as you head towards spring training! =)

jay man, this is not a good way to start a fanbase by ignoring your fans bud.

Hey Jay! That is great that you had such a good time on the caravan. I just wanted to thank you for being so nice!! I came down to the Huntington stop from Dayton. They kept cutting off the line and we were good until the last 10 minutes of the signing, when they said we weren't going to make it up there. However, you stopped and signed a ball and got a picture before you left. Thanks for taking the time to come meet with the fans!! You definitely made our trip down worth it. Can't wait to see you starting at GABP!!

Welcome to my team Jay, no not the Reds but my Fantasy Keeper league team. Today we started our Minor league draft, we get to keep 8 minors on our roster, and with the 2nd overall pick I choose u. I was hoping the team with 1st pick would pass on you and they did thank god. Im an addict to basball and baseball of america so i heard about u through them. I take a few trips and had the pleasure of watching u play for the Bats against Norfolk the start of august and u didnt disappointed by crushing one deep to right! anyway man pretty cool what u r doing here and interacting with fans whether they r reds fans or baseball fans like myself. Best of luck and hope to see u this summer on one of my trips hopefully its in an MLB park. Again best of luck!

Hey Jay, The caravan didn't make it to the Northeast, but nontheless, you have one fan here in New Hampshire. What do you think when you here these guys getting out of this world contracts? No doubt your day will come, but do you ever think that it gets rediculous and your fans are left feeling the crunch? I hope you get to make lots of money and I hope it's all with the Reds, but would you rather stay with one team or chase the money?

Hey Jay: What number will you wear in the Pro's? I only ask because I want to have a custom Mcfarlane figures made of you for my young son. Thanks

Also Jay, I as a Reds fan since 1972 hope you have a VERY successful career and i hope you stay a Red for life!! Enjoy and thanks for being open to Reds fans with your blog and your time on and off the field.

jay, reds fans pack the house every opening day. don't you know it's a holiday in cincy? kids get out of school and no one works, at least past noon. tickets are difficult to come by. everyone says it's the best opening day in baseball, what with the parade and all. if i can get tickets, this will be my first ever, despite being a reds fan since birth.
and yes, we hope to see you in center then, too. we've been waiting for you! good luck!
