I don't think Church meant anything by the slide. I just think he deserved the hit coming in hard like that - especially when he didn't get down in time.
I hope he heals up quickly - we need someone to beat up on.

Church definitely deserved what he got. I think he should be suspended for the play. There is a reason you are required to slide or to veer out of the base line. He made no attempt to slide. It was simply an attempt to take out Escobar...same as he attempted earlier in the game when he did a pop-up slide and threw his shoulder into Escobar on a double play.
