You can't clone Jeff Suppan

Jeff Suppan, Mike Sweeney and Kurt Warner have teamed up with some members of the entertainment industry to put together a political ad in Missouri to encourage folks to vote against stem cell research.

This is an issue I think people can agree to disagree on, but Kurt Warner's plea is simply idiotic: It might take 15 years to find a cure. Whoa! 15 years. Forget about it. If we can't find a cure by next Tuesday, I am completely against it. After all, it's not like there are people who will be alive in 15 years who have Parkinson's, right? What a tool. I may be purchasing his jersey for a few bucks off ebay, then get some duct tape and put a big X on it.

Apparently this is a hot issue and the video was put together in response to Michael J. Fox's ad.

They lost me at Jim Cavezial.

you mean Jesus.

Why does Kurt Warner look like he his filming his clip from a 19th century jail cell? No offense to the athletes, but I hate when legitmate causes (either side) are commercialized with celebreties to try and convince people. Oh, the chick from Everybody Loves Raymond and Kurt Warner said so, I better run out and vote!

What a crock of shit. Kury Warner and his hob-goblin wife should lend zero credibility and weight to this issue. Getting Jim Caviezel involved just b/c he played Jesus is a friggin joke, talk abouit a guy who's putting his career on the line. I wonder if they're gonna try and get Orel Hersheiser involved, I heard back when he played before each season he would mail out bibles to his teammates. Don't you just love what religon's doing to this world?

Kurt Warner won't operate on a fetus? Whew!

Is anyone else just sick of celebrities getting involved with politics...on both sides?

Not me. I love laughing at celebrities, and this kind of stuff never fails to deliver the goods.

agreed. this is comedic gold. on the other hand, what's sad is that this is probably going to influence at least some percentage of the voting populace.

That's what scares me.

No doubt about it but at least it's fair play. The thing that pisses me off are the rumors they started about how Michael J. Fox was "acting" like he had Parkinsons Disease for the purposes of his commercial. And that he purposefully didn't take his medication so he's appear more messed up than he normally is. That's a disgraceful accusation and there's nothing funny about it. But seeing Warner in this commercial... hilarious.

So apparently Sharyl Crow was in an ad encouraging people to vote for the stem cell law. Man that would have me conflicted!

conflicted because you're pro stem cell and can't stand sheryl crow, or vice versa?

You got it right the first time. I hate to think about agreeing with that smug wannabe diva.

Supposedly Suppan's commercial will debut tonight during the World Series. Why in the world would a starting pitcher in arguably the most importnant game of his life ask for a distraction like this? He's a douche and I hope he gets lit-up and then an entire contoversy surrounding whether or not he should've done it during the WS explodes in his face.

What you're describing is exactly what happened when Tom Cruise started pushing Scientology on everyone during his Mission Impossible press tour...look at what a laughing stock he is now.

"Who's comin' with me?"

are you bringing the pain train?

Woo-Woo Suppan should just shut up and pitch-BITCH!

This adds something to the conversation (though I'm not sure exactly what): http://www.timellsworth.com/?p=1386

Is that all it takes? A two-game stretch in the playoffs where you pitch well, get subsequently named NLCS MVP and now you can appear on TV opposing advancements in stem cell research? I wonder how other mediocre pitchers feel about other areas of scientific studies? What's Carlos Silva's stance on cloning? Does Tomo Ohka think Pluto should still be a planet? Does Shawn Chacon lose sleep at night thinking about global warming? It's also funny to me that Jeff Suppan feels confident enough to speak out against a topic as complex as stem cell research when two years ago, he couldn't master the correct way to run the bases. Unbelievable.

amen. they also have a back-up qb in arizona, and a first baseman who spends more time on the disabled list than doing any good for his team.
