Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. exited Sunday’s game against the Chicago Cubs in the fourth inning after suffering an abdominal injury.
Luckily, Acuna’s injury is nothing worse than a mild abdominal strain, according to The Athletic’s David O’Brien. He’s listed as day-to-day.

Acuna exited after sliding headfirst across the plate on a Travis d’Arnaud sacrifice fly. During that same trip around the bases, he pointed to his stomach a couple of times after diving back into first base on pickoff attempts.
The 23-year-old is off to a hot start this season, slashing .419/.486/.887 with seven home runs and 16 RBIs on 26 hits in 16 games. He leads the majors in home runs, hits and OPS (1.373).
The Braves will hope Acuna doesn’t miss too much time as they continue to struggle in the NL East with a 7-9 record. Atlanta is fourth behind the New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins.
