Brewers top prospect Jackson Chourio wins Gold Glove

Jackson Chourio had an incredible year on the diamond. Due to his play and quick ascension through the minor leagues, he has become one of the top prospects in all of baseball.

Earlier this offseason, he was announced as the Carolina League MVP. Additionally, he was named to the MLB Pipeline Prospect Team of the Year. Now, you can add Gold Glove outfielder to his resume:

Known primarily for his bat, Chourio also brings a quick first step and good speed to the outfield to go along with his 60-grade defense. Only 18 years old, the Venezuela native and Brewers phenom climbed three Minor League levels in 2022, rising from Single-A Carolina all the way to Double-A Biloxi at the end of the campaign. All 86 of Chourio’s appearances came in center, where he amassed six assists and 239 putouts in nearly 750 innings.

The other two outfielders to be awarded with Gold Gloves were Pete Crow-Armstrong and Evan Carter. Crow-Armstrong is the Cubs' No. 1 prospect, and Carter is the Rangers' third-ranked prospect. Chourio, Crow-Armstrong and Carter all are ranked in MLB Pipeline’s top 100 prospects.

Chourio is just 18 years old and has already racked up quite a list of accomplishments and awards. He played in just six games in Double-A last year and likely will begin the 2023 season at that level. If he continues to perform well, his fast track to the major leagues will continue to be accelerated.
