Former St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong has had an eventual past few weeks. He initially was traded from the Red Birds to the Toronto Blue Jays, but was DFA’d 18 days after arriving. After being cut loose he was signed by the San Francisco Giants and he made a great first impression during his debut game.
Paul DeJong, former St. Louis Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays player, had a great debut game with the San Francisco Giants.
While with the Blue Jays Paul DeJong went a dismal 3-44 with 18 strikeouts. During his Giants debut he collected three hits, homered, and had four RBI in which two of them gave San Francisco the lead in the 10th inning.

Following the game Paul DeJong was grateful for the opportunity and was glad to make a great first impression.
“It’s hard to put into words. I’m just so happy to be out there and contribute for this team. I just had a great first day. It just feels right. I’m thankful for the opportunity, and [I’m] happy it worked out for me.”
With this win the Giants avoided being swept by the Philadelphia Phillies and currently are a half game back for the second Wild Cards spot.
