Watch: MLB: The Show 23 Releases Trailer Starring Marlins' Jazz Chisholm
USA TODAY Sports

MLB: The Show 23 announced Monday afternoon that Miami Marlins center fielder Jazz Chisholm will grace the cover of this year's video game.

MLB: The Show also put out a hype video starring Chisholm, as he talks about his time growing up in the Bahamas playing the game he loves. The video includes footage of kids in the Bahamas playing baseball, with highlights from Chisholm's first three Major League seasons.

Chisholm grew up in the Bahamas and moved to the United States at the age of 12, where he attended Life Prep Academy in Wichita, Kansas. In addition to baseball, Chisholm played basketball and football.

After high school, Chisholm returned to the Bahamas, where he was signed as an international free agent by the Arizona Diamondbacks in July of 2015. Chisholm was traded to the Miami Marlins for starting pitcher Zac Gallen prior to the 2019 Major League Baseball trade deadline.

Chisholm made his Major League debut in 2020, and in 2022, he was voted to start the MLB All-Star game at second base for the National League. He only played 60 games last season, however, slashing .254/.325/.860 with 14 home runs and 45 RBI.

Since making his Major League debut in 2020, Chisholm is a career .243 hitter with a .305 On Base Percentage and .754 OPS over 205 games.

Chisholm has a lot to prove, but he's excited for the challenge.

"It's something I always dreamed of from when I was a kid," Chisholm said in a special live stream on MLB's YouTube channel after the cover reveal. "I always wanted to be [on the cover of a video game], but I never thought it would become a reality as quick as it has."
