In the meantime, Rosario released, Nestor claimed

Notebook items like this, involving players who'll never make a difference, are the heart and soul of Beerleaguer, even when a playoff game starts in three hours. Francisco Rosario, the 28-year-old reliever who missed the entire season with injury, is a leftover from Pat Gillick's 2007 rummage   more...

Phillies Beat Cardinals as Rout Nearly Turns Into Disaster

The Phillies pounded Cardinals pitchers for 5 homeruns, including 2 each by centerfielder Aaron Rowand and 1st baseman Ryan Howard, one of Howards' being a 6th inning grand slam which built the Phillies lead to 11-0. Pertinent Phillies Philes

Private Matters:1. What to do with Wes Helms? The man is a butcher at 3rd base, meaning his only real position is 1st base, but his bat failed miserably in Philly last season and caused the dynamic duo of Patty G and Rube to cast their line for the big catch of Pedro Feliz. This leaves good ol'   more...

Phillies Place 3 Pitchers on DL

The Phillies placed pitchers Francisco Rosario, Mike Zagurski and Scott Mathieson on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 21st. Zagurski and Mathieson have been injured all spring, so the move comes as no surprise for them, but this is the first I have heard that Rosario was injured.   more...

Phillies Phlashback Phriday: Jerry Martin

With phenomenal 1st base coach Davey Lopes out because of prostate cancer surgery the Phils have turned to former outfielder Jerry Martin to fill the void (guess Vic and J-Roll are temporarily Jerry's Kids). Hopefully Lopes heals quickly and returns to the diamond because he did a tremendous job   more...

Phillies Cuts Continue, Tough Decisions Looming

As the regular season approaches, the Phillies continue to pare down their roster. Pitchers Shane Youman and John Ennis are the next two to be reassigned to the minor league camp. There still haven't been any surprise cuts, neither of these players were expected to make the team. The only thing   more...

Rosario Rocked by Braves

Entering the day, Francisco Rosario had been building momentum as a darkhorse 5th starter for the Phillies. After surrendering 6 runs in two innings against the Braves, Rosario may have blown his shot at even making the team.
