Yankee Elimination Day Comes Early

What did you get for YED? I always get the same thing: a simple moment of relief and peace as I realize that the rats with cocaine-like nature of Yankee Fan is being slowly but surely weaned into something more like, well, the rest of MLB fandom. Did you know that there are people who can use a   more...

Wally Joyner named Padres New Hitting Coach

I had to give a shout out to one of my favorite baseball players of all time, Wally Joyner. The sweet swinging left hander was just named the new hitting coach for the San Diego Padres the other day. After having the kind of year that the Padres are at the plate, I think this was a solid move.   more...

Morgan Ensberg rode the pine in yesterday's game against the Tigers, in order to "try to get his head right," according to Phil Garner. He's been slumping after getting off to a scorching start, hitting .329 in April. Ensberg hit .216 in May and is hitting .151 in June. He's had shoulder problems,   more...

Padres Offense Has A "Little" Problem

A few words come to mind when I think of the San Diego Padres offense. Punchless, anemic, hapless, weak, maybe even effete or feminine. But as I was sitting here watching Joel Pineiro - Joel "FREAKING" Pineiro - toss seven shutout innings while only allowing four hits in a 5-0 Cardinals win, I   more...

Yanks Miss Out On Wiggy, Mets Closing In On Loretta?

Just yesterday, George King wrote in the New York Post that the Yanks appeared on the verge of acquiring Wigginton in exchange for Scott Proctor, whom the Devils Rays were reportedly interested in converting to a starter. We can only assume therefore that the Yankees had second thoughts about   more...

Fantasy Impacts at the Trade Deadline

As a result of yesterday's MLB Trade Deadline, some things got shook up in fantasy baseball. FIO staff writer Lou Poulas discusses some of the trades that went down - those with fantasy implications and the ones that really didn't mean anything.

Yankees Make Up For Not Trading For Johan….

by signing Morgan Ensberg. I'm obviously kidding, but I think this is a good signing for the Yanks. Ensberg is very much a wild card, but could hit 25 homeruns and end up the starting first baseman with Giambi transitioning back to the DH and Cabrera being traded for pitching help or being a 4th OF.

Yankees Mailbag

With Chien-Ming Wang out until September, do you think the Yankees will go out and trade some players for a big-time starter like C.C Sabathia, or will they possibly bring someone up from the Minors, not including Kei Igawa?

Morgan Ensberg to the Padres?

Easily an upgrade over the platoon of Geoff Blum and Vinny Castilla...even if he's on the DL. No word on who the Astros would look for in return.

Hawkins Will Wear No. 21

Evidently it's premature to put away your outrage, Yankee fans. Diehards of the Bombers were indignant this spring when non-roster invitee Morgan Ensberg was granted the No. 21 during spring training. No Yankee had donned the number since Paul O'Neill, and it had widely been assumed that the   more...
