John Smoltz picked up his 3000th strikeout, but the Braves fell 6-0 to the Nationals in a game Smoltz did not deserve to lose. However, the Braves' bats were silent when it mattered most. Smoltz just gave up one run, but the bullpen made sure it wasn't another one-run loss with a poor performance.
