Silva KO's Irvin to headline UFC Fight Night results

It doesn't matter what weight class Anderson Silva is at...the results are still the same. The current UFC Middleweight Champion debuted at 205 pounds Saturday night and knocked out James Irvin in 61 seconds to headline UFC's latest Fight Night.

For the complete results and descriptions as we saw it live, keep on reading!

>CB Dollaway defeats Jesse Taylor via Peruvian necktie submission at 1:02 of the first round: You knew it was going to bad for Taylor when Mike Goldberg got his name wrong in the lead-in and they referred to him as JT Taylor for some reason. Nice submission win for Dollaway, but I think this was more Taylor's nerves overcoming him than Dollaway erasing all doubts about him.

> Kevin Burns defeated Anthony Johnson by TKO at 3:35 in the third round: Strange ending as Johnson went down like a ton of bricks after a Burns punch but wasn't knocked out. Replays show that Burns caught Johnson in the eye with a finger, something he had been warned about several times. However, ref Steve Mazzagatti stopped the fight and awarded Burns the decision by TKO. Really? A guy is warned about eye gouging, he does it again and wins? For some reason, Mazzagatti makes horrendous calls when it comes to decisions like this.

> Cain Velasquez defeated Jake O'Brien via TKO at 2:59 in the first round. Velasquez took O'Brien down and got him in that Matt Hughes-style crucifix, unloading fists which O'Brien couldn't defend. After about 30-40 seconds of unanswered punches (some hard, some glancing), the fight was called. O'Brien was dominated.

>Frankie Edgar defeated Hermes Franca by unanimous decision. Edgar simply dominated the entire fight using ground-and-pound, but Franca caught Edgar late with a knee strike that busted up his nose pretty good. Hey, if you're going to lose, at least make the other guy look he was in a battle. Pretty hum-drum overall.

> Brandon Vera defeated Reese Andy by unanimous decision. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Vera blamed his weight-cut for him being tired and post-fight, Joe Rogan is doing his best to use that as a cover. For his UFC debut, Andy didn't do anything to impress. Vera seems like a great guy, but I just don't get why people make a big deal out of him.

> Anderson Silva defeates James Irvin by TKO at 3:59 of the 1st round. Holy sh*t. Silva caught an Irvin kick, landed a straight right that knocked Irvin down and pummeled him for a few more seconds until it was stopped. Silva is truly amazing. Watch out Light Heavyweights...watch the f**k out.

>Rory Markham defeated Brodie Farber by KO at 3:23 of the 1st round. WOW! Farber had Markham on the ropes with powerful strikes and as Markham was backing up, he unloaded a kick that caught Farber flush for the immediate knockout. This was reminiscent of the Gabriel Gonzaga knockout over Mirko Cro Cop last year...entertaining 90 seconds!

good article man. missed the last night. sux ass. thanx for all the info.

The guy is out right scary ! He is so well rounded he cant be beat in ither weight class . No one can stand and bang with him cause his pin point accuracy and mui thai background and we saw what happens if you go to the matt with him...............................................Dan henderson ! who he was not suppose to wrestle with and did. I like the challenge at 205 lets see THE SPIDER VS THE ICEMAN !

Nice wrap up of the fights. I agree about the Edgar and Franca fights - pretty boring for the most part. But Anderson Silva made up for it, landing 100% of his shots. The guy is amazing.

Markham's knockout was pretty sweet too - you hit the nail on the head, very reminiscent of Gonzaga's victory over Cro-Cop.

I love Edgar...who doesnt love a plumber from New Jersey who dropped tons of bombs on Franca. He even survived a Franca knee Sean Sherk style.

Great fights all over! Fedor impressed the hell out of me. SIlva impressed me as well. Wasnt expecting him to not even let Irvin get a punch in!

Yeah, I was impressed by Fedor - but I think I was equally disappointed by Tim Sylvia.

exactly what i expected from both fights.......... no suprise there......

anderson silva's in a class by himself!!!!!!! even at 205.......

there's nothing randy cortour could do...... to help forrest griffin against the spyder silva, if and when it happens!!!!!!!!

Silva is a beast, I watched that fight expecting at the least a good fight, Wrong! Silva owned irvin, his power and the fluidity in which he moves, it's amazing. No doubt he is the best lb. for lb. fighter in the world right now. I was amazed at the ease he dispached this guy. The only guy that might go three rounds with the man could be Liddell, even he might be a little too far along in his career to match up with Silva at this point. I would still like to see it though.

Chuck is about two or three leagues down from Anderson Silva... He would be another notch on the belt for Silva.

James Irvin is an embarrassment to all European-American Males. His glass jaw has been exposed.

lol markhams kick was right on the money, thats where cockiness will get u....flat on your back.... same with irvin, he was cocky, completely underestimated silva's background of fighting and got knocked OUT!!! i was hoping for a longer fight but that was a sweet KO
