7 Reasons The Nuggets Must Trade Allen Iverson

Denver's got to make a change, and aside from removing George Karl, it's time to declare the A.I. - Melo experiment a failure. Since moving Melo would be just plain stupid, Allen Iverson must go.

A.I IS A GREAT PLAYER....but me myself believe that it just aint workin out..... i mean 0-4 IN THE PLAYOFFS.....datz just plain DDRRROOOVVEE!!!!!

sixers would take him back...i was there for that standing ovation when he kissed the ground, memorable doesnt give justice to the feeling inside that arena

Trade him to Phoenix for Boris, Raja and Alando or something like that.

Germar, are you serious? I love AI, but acquiring him doesn't help the Suns really. At least not in the long run. That still leaves us with the same problem, we need a young back-up PG that can see some meaningful minutes and learn to carry a team so when Nash retires, the responsibility wont fall solely on STAT to carry the Suns.

And Raja is our only real defender. Who would the Suns get to replace him?

raja is garbage period

what are you serious? we're talking about AI. We won't need backups and defense while we're winning 150-130 every night. Forget the long run. I won't a championship now!!!! Raja's like 32 anyway and had a down year. We gotta sell high on one of my fav Suns.

I like those guys, but AI still averages like 26 so does Amare. And AI also gives another option at the point. Plus I want the record for oldest team in the history of existence. DJ will replace Raja. It's his destiny AND he'll play point.

I know what you mean about wanting a title now too...believe me, so do I.
But I'm really not prepared for our Suns to pull a Miami Heat. I'm not sure if I could take that.

Anyway, defense wins championships. Can't just forget about it. 150 a night is fun to watch and will win you some games...but you've gotta play D if you have any shot of winning it all. We all witnessed that in the Lakers/Nuggets first round. And as Suns fans, you and I have witnessed that first hand for the past four or five years.

fresh out of luck my man...the suns aint goin nowhere unless a coach can teach them defense...they dont need AI because defenses like boston and san antonio can defend them from scoring 150 a night...the west is too strong for nash who is on his decline slowly and shaq who has been on his decline since 2005. unless young talent and a great coach come to phoenix then amare might as well opt out when his time comes because nash and shaq wont be there and they traded away marion...its gonna be a bunch of bums and amare unless they bring young talent in fast....in this case iverson will not help one bit

That was my point...AI wouldn't solve our problems.
Only I said it a bit nicer ... because I'm a Suns fan.

Ha...ouch. I wanna go jump off a bridge now, thanks Birdsfan. :-(

76ers dont need Iverson that would ruin their future. They are a very young team and they dont need a guy thats in his mid 30s i mean dont get me wrong i loved when iverson was with the sixers but they need to look for the future and with the money this offseason that they have they should go after a power forward possibility elton brand

have you ever been discriminated against because of your age? AI still has more heart than most of the young players in the league. the guy deserves our respect especially being that small in a TALL man's game.

well Brit I don't know if I believe that, but the difference between the Suns being good defensively or not won't be one guy. We've been there done that. If Raja's back continues to be a prob. If he can't score consistently, if he misses 30 games... He's the heart and soul, but he guards one guy and I'm serious about DJ replacing him, being healthier, distributing better and scoring more- at some point.

I like DJ. I think he tried a little too hard at times last season, but when you're fighting for playing time...that's what you have to do I guess. I'd like to see him stick around with the Suns for a while.

im reading this blog.. and im sitting here like...........are u serious... trade.. ai... trade melo... trade camby.... it dont have nothing to do with that........ what denver needs to do ,,,it..... trade..k mart(much luv baby) but trade him... get jermane o neal..... tell melo..... brother u need to stay out of trouble and stop messing up... tell ai.. to run the show and its time for u to be ventage ai... not.. pass 1st ai... tell camby ..and j neals.. to hold down the blocks. and box out... get o neal to get them to play defence.. .... i mean come on yall... the west is gansta this year..... future more... i think if.. denver would have played... new orleans 1st round.....beat them... played san antiono 2nd round and went 7 games.. and let ai.. and melo.. go off game 7... i think .. we would not be having this convo about.. trade ai ... trade melo..... let keep this in perspective... they played the lakers 1st round... the la show.. just got too much fire power.. and kobe is playing out of his mind right now( in not a kobe fan.. but u have to respect his game..) jermaine o neal to denver is what we need to be screaming.................................................................... side note... who let k.korver go to utah... i mean... when he was in philly with ai.. they was killing... they need to get korver.. but i know that not going to happen

I think i speak for alot of sixers fans when i say come on home son we miss you.

Do you realize that AI has an early termination option on his contract this year? I would think that would make it rather difficult to deal AI considering (a) he can decide to terminate his contract after being traded; or (b) he would have to approve any trade made and agree not to terminate his contract.

Not necessarily. Let's say he opts out - because A.I. probably commands more salary than the mid-level exception, his best shot at playing on a good team is via sign and trade. Let's say he doesn't opt out - we're talking about a $21 million dollar expiring contract for a guy that will sell tickets at any arena in the league. Either way, its probably a done deal.

ScreaminEagle PLEASE STOP, it was fun for 10years.But if you notice this team(the sixers have gotten better everygame since AI left. And Carmelo and the Nuggets have gotten worse, even we managed to win a game in the first round.AI is a ball hog, that Denver team looks just like the Sixers used to look except they have Melo, and he only gets the ball when AI doesnt have a shot ,just like the old days. I guarantee u Melo wants out, Iverson is a great scorer, not a great player. He can kiss the Wachovia floor all he wants,Andre Miller out played him that nite. Addition by subtraction,Good Riddance!

mrswag "the sixers have gotten better everygame since AI left." I will have to disagree, they went on a run towards the end of the season but that's about it. they still finished under .500 but were lucky that the East was so much worse than the West. "Carmelo and the Nuggets have gotten worse" - first time in 20 years to get 50 Wins in a highly competitive West Conference even with an injury plagued season to 2 of their expected starters... hmm... sorry, Wrong again. , "even we managed to win a game in the first round" - again, there is a difference between the East and West, even Lebron almost singlehandedly beat the Celtics.

Moral of the story: get your facts straight and try to be objective about your comments, your emotions are getting the better of your judgement. AI moving was nothing personal, he just wants to Win.

A.I. needs to be dealt...he doesn't work in Denver...he won't work in many places, but maybe...call me crazy...Toronto??

I don't think that's crazy at all - Toronto needs another superstar, and they could do a sign and trade for A.I. (3 years at 12 million per) that would unload TJ Ford, opening up the signing of Calderon. A.I. would thrive in that open system, he'd be surrounded with shooters, and he could play alongside a great PG in Calderon. It seems like a decent option to me...

If Coach Karl was half as good as Phil Jackson and Gregg Popovich in coaching Superstars you guys wouldn't even be having this conversation.. Sad.

I don't know if just getting rid of Iverson is going to solve the Nuggets' problems. They looked awful in the first round. They were just out-classed. I don't know how they beat out Golden State. GS would've put up a better fight.

I usually don't call out people who publish articles about my Dnever Nuggets, but this is down right stupid. You can not stick two of the best players together and hope that they win a championship right away. It takes time. You don't ask a girl to marry you 2 months after asking her on the first date. DO you? No, and I really do expect that the Melo-AI duo will shine if not this upcoming season, the one defientely after that for sure. If we don't win the playoffs, you just have to have hope for God's sakes. That's what a true fan is, and that's what I am.
TAzz23

Did you read the article? The Nuggets have got one more chance with A.I., then he walks away and they get nothing. I agree that winning a championship takes time, so why not trade away an older player that *might* win something for a chance to draft or develop some younger players. Take a look at New Orleans, LA, San Antonio, and Utah. They're all young teams with talent they developed in-house. That's how championships are won - not by throwing a bunch of guys together (albeit very good guys) and hoping for the best.

IVERSON IS NOT GOIN ANYWHERE PERIOD. YA DIGG

He can go where ever he want's just keep him out of Philly we don't need his drama.

I'm sorry..... Carmelo Anthony is garbage. end of discussion. he doesn't play defense, doesn't rebound, he is all sizzle and no steak. But because the NBA only cares about marketability, he will sell more jersey's and put more people in the seats of the pepsi center. "Carmelo's Nuggets" are ruining Allen Iverson's career. The 6ers have the most cap space in the NBA, i'm starting a petition to bring Allen Iverson home to philadelphia... where he belongs, and out of the sorry excuse for a basketball team that the Denver Nuggets are.

I HOPE YOU REALLY START A PETITION 2 BRING A.I. BACK 2 PHILLY.I BELIEVE IT WILL MAKE HIM HAVE THE HUNGER 2 PLAY B-BALL AGAIN.PHILLY IS WHERE HIS HEART AND SOUL IS.THERE WOULD B NO BETTER WAY 2 END HIS CAREER THEN 2 BRING A CHAMPIONSHIP BACK 2 PHILLY.START THE PAPERWORK,I LOVE ME SOME A.I,

The biggest problem for the denver nuggets is that they don't play defense they have to be a better defensive team if they hope to win a championship. They should try to acquired a great defensive player like Artest for exemple. I think that AI and Melo is a super duo of attak they should't trad any of them.

We'll (Knicks) give you Marburry, Randolph, and Curry for him!

I am telling you every time I say some thing about AI I get a minus... He was an unbelivable player..Don't get me wrong but every one forgets how much trouble he caused in philly, when he was accused of beating his wife... and his practic...practice,,,, we lost the game and your talking about practice... AI...Is not a role model for the nba.. and he would not help philly with his mouth, high salary and age.. I am from philly and bleed philly... But come on you have got to be kidding me... KEEP AI OUT OF PHILLY...

look hear its very simple melo needs to take the back seat and let AI lead this team he lead a much more worse team to the finals and beat a better la team i know it was one game but the lakers swept everyone else that year except for them AI is a proven winner and has what it takes to win a championship but he has to feel free on the court instead of having to try and fit in thats not his game i feel they are holding him back tryin to make him to much into a passer he is a better scorer then melo i think melo needs to watch and learn no knock on melos game but he shoots to early in the shot clock and he forces alot of things that are not there when he gets doubled he dont pass it he travels way to much and gets called for it and also offensive fouls not to mention he couldnt make a layup to save his life in the playoffs hes not a bad player he just needs to develop he is only 23 he needs to save his energy and use it to play D and rebound on the other hand AI drop 51 on the lakers in the reg season and i feel he could have done it again but he needs to be the 1 option and captain of that team we seen what the nuggets can do with melo as leader give AI a chance and i promise they will defenitly be a better team

allen iverswon i love u 2 death i defense u against da haterz believe dat i'm from da bahamas and i no i might not he must say but i think u would be better in boston cuz i wanna c u leave da nba with several rings and dnt want u 2 be those great players who dnt achieve becuz of da team.i thought u and anthony where go 2 do some damage when u come 2 denver but he just layed back when u arrive i really thin u should go 2 boston i think u and da big 3 will be unstopable 2gether plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz consider it...........luv u dearly #1 fan

No-he shouldn't go-He contributed to all of the nuggets 50 wins this season
